H&H Skylight Fabricators is hiring two temporary construction laborers to assist our experienced installation crew on a commercial skylight restoration project at the Main Immigration Building on Ellis Island. This is a temporary project-based position expected to last approximately one month. Previous skylight or glazing experience is not required. We are looking for dependable individuals with general construction experience who are comfortable working on an active commercial construction site and assisting skilled installers. Employees will report/access the project from Jersey City or by Ferry from NY and travel to the Ellis Island worksite with the project crew. Responsibilities Assist experienced skylight installers with daily installation activities Load, unload, carry, stage, and organize aluminum framing, glass and other construction materials Move tools and equipment to work areas Assist with positioning and handling materials during installation Prepare and maintain work areas Perform general construction labor and cleanup Assist crew members from lifts, scaffolding and elevated work areas as directed Follow instructions from the project superintendent and lead installers Maintain a clean and safe worksite Follow all company, project and OSHA safety requirements Perform other general labor duties necessary to support the installation crew Qualifications Previous commercial construction or similar hands-on experience preferred Comfortable working outdoors and at heights Able to safely lift and carry construction materials throughout the workday Comfortable using basic hand and power tools Able to follow instructions and work as part of an experienced construction crew Dependable and able to report to the Jersey City access/staging location on time each day Must comply with all project safety and security requirements Commercial glazing, roofing, metal fabrication or exterior construction experience is a plus, but skylight experience is not required. Schedule This is a temporary full-time position for approximately four weeks and is being hired specifically for the Ellis Island project. Hours may vary based on project requirements, weather and site access. Compensation This is a federally funded National Park Service project and compensation will comply with the applicable Davis-Bacon federal prevailing wage requirements for work performed.
