Job Description

Construction Laborer Build something you can point to at the end of the day. This entry-level Construction Laborer position is for someone who wants to learn by doing, earn from day one and turn a strong work ethic into a skilled career. We are hiring in Dayton, OH, and previous construction experience is not required. You will receive practical instruction in site safety, equipment use and construction methods while working alongside experienced crew members. Starting pay is $20.00 per hour , with overtime paid at 1.5 times your standard rate after 40 hours worked in one week . Your Working Week Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m. 30-minute unpaid lunch Full-time, site-based position Overtime may be available depending on project requirements The Work You will support the crew with the physical and practical tasks that keep each project moving safely.
Responsibilities include:
Preparing work areas before tasks begin Loading, unloading and moving tools and building materials Keeping walkways and working areas clear of debris Assisting skilled tradespeople with assigned tasks Measuring, positioning and organizing materials Using basic hand and power tools after completing training Setting up safety barriers, signs and protective equipment Checking tools before use and reporting defects Following instructions from the Crew Leader or Site Supervisor Cleaning and securing the site at the end of the shift Construction work is active and can take place outdoors in changing weather. The role involves standing, bending, climbing and carrying materials throughout the day. These duties must be performed safely, with or without reasonable accommodation. What Matters Here Reliability is essential. The crew needs people who arrive on time, listen carefully and complete the work they have been assigned.
You must:
Be at least 18 due to the worksite duties and equipment used Be ready for physical, hands-on work Follow safety procedures every time Communicate clearly with supervisors and crew members Accept feedback and apply it Take care of company tools and equipment Want to develop beyond the starting position Training With a Purpose Your initial training will cover site rules, hazard awareness, safe material handling, tool use and emergency procedures. The company will also fund your OSHA 10-Hour Construction course and required job-specific safety training. After completing the core training, you may receive up to $1,500 per year for approved external courses and industry credentials . Eligible providers will be paid directly by the company wherever possible, so employees are not expected to fund approved training upfront. As your ability and site knowledge grow, you may be considered for additional responsibilities and training toward a skilled trade. Progression depends on performance, completed training and available positions.
