Full Job Description Overview:
Laborer Reports Directly to:
Foreman or Project Superintendent Direct Reports:
NA Non-Exempt Primary Purpose :
Supports carpenters, cement mason, IW, MW, and pipe fitters in performing and wide range of duties and activities. Also, works with a sense of urgency. Performs quality work, works safely, and productively, is reliable, and is punctual.
Duties:
Pour concrete forms, and employ proper vibration techniques. Load, transport, unload, and furnish experienced craft workers with materials. Level earth to fine grade specifications, using hand tools as required. Employ hand signals to communicate to operators of construction equipment for lifting, installing, and hoisting work done by laborers. Erect scaffolding, shoring, and bracing. Demolish buildings saw lumber, strip forms, and attach insulating material. Clean work area and restock supplies and materials as necessary Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing materials, as necessary. Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing materials and work pieces during installation. Perform maintenance or cleaning activities Perform other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.

Assist in the training/orientation of employees when needed. Assist in the employment processes as requested. Conform to all company policies, procedures, etc. (Ex. New hire sign-off - safety manual, etc.) Promote teamwork and positive communication among employees. Attend and participate in miscellaneous site meetings, sharing knowledge, information, and ideas as needed or requested by Project Superintendent. Do whatever work is requested to do by Foreman or Project Superintendent Works with a sense of urgency
Skills and Abilities:
Follow specific instructions Perform a variety of duties, which may often change Work within standards of accuracy Recognize and use proper hand signals for cranes and other equipment. Repeat tasks of short duration according to a set procedure Evaluate information using measurable standards Work rapidly and accurately with hands Familiar with forming material and a wide range of applicable tools and equipment Effectively communicate verbally with co-workers Effectively manage one's time and deal with problems that arise Effectively work with other employees in a positive manner Willingness and ability to gain knowledge or and consistently practice basic Safety and Health Regulations Able to attend to job duties on a consistent & timely basis.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
Work is often performed outside under any type of weather conditions. Exposure to varying degrees/amounts of heat, cold, dust, dampness, ice, precipitation, and mud.
Must be able to:
Climb and maintain balance on scaffolds and ladders; use arms and hands to reach for, handle and manipulate objects and materials; lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds repetitively to meet the physical demands of our industry. Stand or walk, stoop kneel crouch and crawl for long periods of time must have acceptable vision (either naturally or with correction).
