About the
Role:
The Sealcoat Laborer plays a critical role in the maintenance and protection of asphalt surfaces by applying sealcoating materials to pavements, parking lots, and driveways. This position ensures that surfaces are properly prepared, cleaned, and treated to extend their lifespan and improve their appearance. The laborer works closely with a team to operate equipment, handle materials safely, and follow detailed instructions to achieve high-quality results. Attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols are essential to prevent damage and ensure the durability of the sealcoat application. Ultimately, the Sealcoat Laborer contributes to preserving infrastructure and enhancing the value of properties through expert surface treatment.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods. Basic understanding of construction site safety practices and willingness to follow safety protocols. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to and from job sites. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, weekends, and overtime. Strong work ethic and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in sealcoating, asphalt maintenance, or related construction work. Familiarity with operating sealcoating equipment such as spray machines and power washers. Knowledge of asphalt materials and surface preparation techniques. Certification in OSHA safety standards or other relevant construction safety training. Ability to read and interpret work orders, safety data sheets, and project instructions.
Responsibilities:
Prepare asphalt surfaces by cleaning debris, filling cracks, and ensuring the area is ready for sealcoating. Mix and apply sealcoat materials evenly using spray equipment or hand tools according to project specifications. Operate and maintain sealcoating machinery and tools safely and efficiently. Assist in loading and unloading materials and equipment at job sites. Follow all safety guidelines and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) during all phases of work. Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to coordinate tasks and ensure project timelines are met. Perform routine inspections of completed work to ensure quality standards are achieved.
