Job Description

Key Responsibilities Site Preparation and Cleanup :
Clear work areas by removing debris, vegetation, or obstacles. Maintain a clean and organized job site, including proper disposal of waste materials.
Excavation and Trenching :
Assist in digging trenches for sewer pipes using hand tools (shovels, picks) or operating small machinery under supervision. Ensure trenches meet specified depths and alignments.
Pipe Handling and Installation :
Transport, position, and align sewer pipes and fittings. Assist in connecting pipes, ensuring proper sealing and adherence to project specifications.
Equipment Operation :
Operate basic tools and equipment, such as jackhammers, compactors, or pumps, following safety guidelines. Perform routine maintenance checks on tools.
Material Management :
Load, unload, and distribute construction materials like gravel, concrete, or pipes. Stockpile materials as directed to support workflow.
Safety Compliance :
Follow strict safety protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhering to OSHA regulations. Identify and report hazards on-site.
Team Support :
Work closely with pipe layers, equipment operators, and supervisors to complete tasks efficiently. Communicate effectively to coordinate activities.
Concrete and Finishing Work :
Mix, pour, and spread concrete for manholes or other structures. Assist in backfilling trenches and compacting soil.
Inspection Assistance :
Support inspections by providing access to work areas and assisting with measurements or documentation as directed. Physical Requirements Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50-75 lbs), stand for extended periods, and work in confined spaces or adverse weather conditions. Comfort working in environments with exposure to dust, noise, and potentially hazardous materials. Skills and Qualifications Basic knowledge of construction tools and techniques. Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team. Strong work ethic and commitment to safety. No formal education required; on-the-job training provided.
