Operations Description Job purpose Provide safe and efficient traffic management and labor tasks at a road construction worksite. Perform manual tasks as required to complete the project in observance of the safety guidelines and project specifications. Duties and responsibilities Promote safe work practices and an excellent safety culture Participates in pre-shift safety huddles Set-up and take down temporary work zones safely and efficiently Optimize traffic control in and around work zones (Flagging) crafting a safe environment for traffic and onsite workers Responsible for reporting incidents and accidents to supervisor or management Maintain an open line of communication with team members to promote team productivity and safety Responsible to report to superintendent / Foreman of any potential safety hazards Assist in backing and dumping of triaxles and milling machines Shovel and rake asphalt and aggregate materials Handle hot liquid asphalt and various materials Remove old asphalt, concrete, and other materials Erect and remove delineating devices such as barrels and cones Seal end joints Fill water tanks on equipment as needed Compact material with small hand rollers and vibratory plates Qualifications Qualifications include: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with peers. Ability to perform tasks as given from supervisors as well as work as part of a team Working conditions Working conditions are outdoors and vary throughout the season. Preparation for these changing conditions and the ability to adapt is required. This position works near live traffic on jobsites and requires employees to be safety conscious at all times. Physical requirements This position requires an individual to stand, walk, sit, use arms, hands, and fingers. It will require some lifting, handling of objects, shoveling, and raking.
