Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic construction team as an Excavation Laborer and be a vital part of excavation projects that lay the foundation for infrastructure development. In this role, you will work closely with skilled operators and construction crews to perform essential utility and site preparation tasks. Your energy, attention to safety, and mechanical aptitude will drive project success and ensure a safe, efficient work environment. This paid position offers hands-on experience in heavy equipment operation and construction utility work, providing a stepping stone into a rewarding construction career. Duties Assist with excavation activities using heavy machinery such as excavators, loaders, backhoes, and water trucks to prepare construction sites. Support the operation and maintenance of construction equipment, ensuring all machinery functions safely and efficiently. Perform utility locating to identify underground utilities before excavation begins, adhering to federal safety regulations. Help with construction grading tasks to achieve precise site elevation and slope requirements. Follow all safety regulations and equipment safety procedures to maintain a secure work environment for yourself and team members. Support the setup of construction sites by assisting with site layout, barricades, and safety signage in compliance with federal construction safety regulations. Conduct routine inspections of machinery like Caterpillar equipment, water trucks, and loaders to ensure optimal performance and report any mechanical issues promptly. Experience Prior experience in construction or utility work is preferred but not required; we value motivated individuals eager to learn. Familiarity with heavy equipment operation such as excavators, loaders, backhoes, or water trucks is advantageous. Basic mechanical knowledge or experience with equipment maintenance is a plus. Knowledge of construction safety regulations and procedures is highly desirable. Ability to follow detailed instructions for excavation processes and site preparation tasks. Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) or experience in commercial truck driving is a bonus; willingness to obtain necessary certifications is appreciated. Construction site experience involving grading, utility installation, or heavy machinery operation will help you excel in this role.
