Applicants must have hands-on experience with underground utility work, including trench bedding, pipe grade, slope, backfill, compaction, and shoring. This position requires workers who understand how to work from elevations, percentages, slopes, and grade stakes, and who can use lasers or transits to help set and maintain proper pipe grade. Assist with backfill and compaction in proper lifts using jumping jacks, reversible plate compactors, and walk-behind trench compactors. Must understand proper lift thickness, moisture control, and compaction around sewer and storm drain piping. Must be familiar with density testing, compaction inspections, and correcting any areas that do not pass required compaction. This position offers a good opportunity to develop your skills while contributing to essential infrastructure projects that serve our community. Duties Prepare trench bottoms and install bedding for sewer and storm drain pipe installed by others Understand slopes, percentages, elevations, and grade requirements Use lasers or transits to help set and check grade Assist with shoring, trench boxes, shoring jacks, fin boards, and safe trench setup Perform backfill and compaction in proper lifts Use jumping jacks, plate compactors, and walk-behind trench compactors Assist with standard dewatering as needed Work safely around equipment, trenches, utilities, and other trades Requirements Must be able to meet federal project access requirements Must be legally authorized to work in the United States Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and construction plans accurately. Familiarity with utility trenching techniques, pipeline installation processes. Skilled in the use of hand tools and power tools common to underground utility work. Must possess OSHA 10 certification or be willing to obtain it before starting. Company will cover the cost for qualified applicants. Prior experience working on underground utilities installation projects involving sewer lines, water supply systems, or pipeline construction. Strong physical stamina with the ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions while maintaining safety standards. Join us to build vital infrastructure that enhances communities!
