PAY SCALE

$16.76 GENERAL PURPOSE Maintain City streets, drainage, and other property.

ACCOUNTABILITY

This position will be under the direct supervision of the Grounds Maintenance Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs vital services to facilitate infrastructure integrity
• Operates small to medium trucks, tractors, loaders, mowers and a variety of light to medium motorized equipment
• Operates chipper as needed and as requested by customers
• Maintains and makes minor repairs and adjustments to a variety of machines and equipment, ensures that equipment operated is serviced daily and that all scheduled maintenance is performed
• Requests outside maintenance when problem exceed technical capabilities of City resources
• Performs a variety of manual semi-skilled and unskilled work such as loading and unloading materials, installation and maintaining supplies and materials to public facilities and appurtenances such as streets, parks, landfill, drain ways, and all other City sites
• Performs all job tasks in a safe manor
• Performs other work as assigned
• Subject to 24-hour call

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT USED

Maintainer, Backhoe, Skidsteer, Loader, Tractor with shredder, pressure washer, chainsaws, limb chipper, dump truck, flatbed truck, utility truck, street sweeper Asphalt zipper, high roller, vibratory roller, paint striping machine Hand tools (shovel, rake, broom, etc.)

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Primarily and outside position, ability to perform work in all weather conditions will be mandatory in both daily and emergency conditions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to perform strenuous work in adverse conditions; fingers, hands, and arms dexterity; able to operate all equipment; hand-eye coordination; good hearing and vision; ability to lift 50 pounds and over; ability to climb in, on, and about equipment and vehicles, as well as in and out of trenches; ability to sit, stoop, bend, stand, push, pull, squat, walk, carry, and twist associated with respective field operations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent 1 to 2 years experience in operating equipment used in road construction and maintenance

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS 3

to 5 years of experience in operating equipment used in road construction and maintenance Ability to obtain a class B CDL within 12 months
