Job Description
General Labor / Construction Helper JY Signs and Services Inc. is looking for a dependable, hardworking person to join our team as a General Labor / Construction Helper . We are looking for someone who is willing to learn and work with their hands. Previous sign installation or maintenance experience is NOT required. The right person will be trained by our experienced technician to learn sign installation, maintenance, repairs, and other aspects of the sign industry. This position involves working outdoors at different job sites and assisting with a variety of projects. The work can vary from job to job, so we are looking for someone who is flexible, willing to learn, and comfortable doing different types of hands-on work. Responsibilities Assist with commercial sign installations and service calls. Learn how to install, maintain, and repair signs. Assist with loading, unloading, and transporting materials. Use hand tools and power tools safely. Assist with basic electrical, mechanical, and structural work as needed. Assist with welding and metalwork when a project requires it. Work outdoors and at different job sites. Help with general construction and installation tasks. Keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean and organized. Follow instructions from the lead technician and work safely. Travel to job sites, primarily around the Austin area, with occasional travel depending on the project. Welding Knowledge Welding experience is a plus, but welding is NOT the primary job. Some signs require welding or metalwork, while others do not. We are looking for someone with basic/general knowledge of welding who can assist when a particular project requires it. You do not need to be a professional welder or have extensive welding experience. What We're Looking For Valid driver's license required . Willingness to work outdoors. Comfortable working with tools and doing hands-on work. Willingness to learn new skills. Dependable and punctual. Able to follow directions and work as part of a team. Basic welding knowledge is a plus . Construction, maintenance, mechanical, fabrication, or handyman experience is a plus , but not required. Previous sign experience is not required . Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus, but not required . Comfortable traveling to different job sites. Able to lift and handle materials and equipment as required. Training Provided Don't have sign experience? That's okay. Our experienced technician will train the right candidate on: Sign installation Sign maintenance and repairs Basic sign electrical work Sign troubleshooting Tools and equipment Installation procedures and safety General sign fabrication and field work We are more interested in finding someone who is reliable, willing to learn, and has a good work ethic than someone who already knows everything about the sign industry. Schedule Monday-Friday, typically 8:00 AM-5:00 PM Schedule may vary depending on the type and location of the job. Location Primarily Austin and surrounding areas, with occasional travel depending on the project. Pay Depending on experience.
