Non- Exempt Prequalification's A Background in heavy equipment operations. Required Skills/Abilities Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (standing for long periods of time, lifting heavy loads of up to 50 pounds etc.) Good hand-eye coordination Familiarity with power tools and machinery is a plus Communication and teamwork skills Commitment to safety rules Apprenticeship or specialization is an asset, but not necessary Role General laborers help with manual labor tasks and support operations on worksites. Duties include, but are not limited to, trash and debris collection, keeping site safe, use of power tools, digging trenches, unloading materials, preparing job sites, use of hand tools and more. The position will complete assigned tasks while achieving a Zero Incident goal. Responsibilities Clean up worksites from hazardous or obsolete material Assist welders, carpenters, painters or other tradespeople on-site Handle and transport materials (e.g. cement) and equipment (e.g. drills and grinders) Use power tools and machinery (e.g. forklifts) when needed Follow instructions from supervisors to perform manual labor tasks (e.g. digging, stacking up goods) Put up warning signs (e.g. signposts, cones) for vehicles and passersby Help with setting up and transferring temporary structures (e.g. scaffolding) Report issues with equipment or unsafe conditions Physical Demands and Work Environment The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those the employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this position and the environmental conditions likely encountered during performance. The employee will be regularly required to communicate and effectively exchange information with other employees. The employee will be required to stand, climb, stoop, kneel, or crouch, and move about in a construction environment, including being able to reach with hands and arms. The employee will be required to lift and move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision acuity, depth perception, and distance vision. The employee will be exposed to outside weather conditions, including wet or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, and moving mechanical parts, equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however, some occasional high noise levels may be expected. Position Type, Travel and Work Schedule This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are determined by job requirements. Weekend work and working long hours will be required when necessary. This position may require travel, including overnight stays. Must have reliable transportation.
