Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic team as a Telecom Constructions Laborer and play a vital role in building and maintaining essential telecommunications infrastructure. This energetic position offers the opportunity to work outdoors on exciting projects involving fiber optic systems, network cabling, and outside plant operations. You will be instrumental in supporting the installation, testing, and troubleshooting of telecommunications networks, ensuring reliable connectivity for customers. Duties Assist with the installation of fiber optic cables, telecommunications network cables, and related infrastructure in outdoor settings. Operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks, trenchers, and other power tools safely and efficiently to support construction activities. Use diagnostic tools and telecommunications testing equipment to verify system performance and troubleshoot issues on-site. Perform telecommunications cable splicing and fiber splicing with precision to ensure optimal network performance. Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering troubleshooting documents to guide installation processes. Conduct telecommunications outside plant operations following safety standards outlined by the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC). Support the testing and commissioning of fiber optic networks, including verifying signal integrity and network connectivity. Climb poles or structures safely while adhering to safety protocols; utilize proper climbing techniques and personal protective equipment. Assist with the setup and maintenance of IT infrastructure components such as LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network), Ethernet connections, and telephony systems. Maintain detailed records of work performed, including cable splicing logs, test results, and safety inspections. Skills Proven experience in field service activities related to telecommunications or outdoor construction projects. Ability to operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks, trenchers, and power tools confidently and safely. Proficiency with diagnostic tools including voltmeters, telecommunications testing equipment, and fiber splicing devices. Strong understanding of fiber optic systems installation, fiber splicing techniques, and low voltage cabling practices. Knowledge of telecommunications testing procedures, interpreting technical drawings, and troubleshooting network issues. Familiarity with the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) standards for outdoor plant operations. Experience working outdoors in various weather conditions with a focus on safety protocols. Technical proficiency in computer networking concepts such as LAN/WAN configurations, Ethernet wiring, and telephony systems. Ability to interpret technical schematics and engineering drawings accurately for installation tasks. Excellent climbing skills combined with a strong commitment to safety standards during pole or tower work.
