Job Overview Join our dynamic construction team as an Excavation Laborer and become a vital part of building infrastructure that shapes communities! In this energetic role, you will assist with excavation projects, operate heavy machinery, and support utility installation efforts. Your hands-on work will contribute to safe, efficient construction sites while adhering to all safety regulations. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to develop your skills in excavation and construction utility work within a fast-paced environment that values teamwork and safety. Responsibilities Assist with excavation tasks using equipment such as excavators, backhoes, loaders, and Caterpillar machinery to prepare sites for construction projects. Operate heavy equipment safely following all equipment safety procedures and federal construction safety regulations. Perform routine maintenance on construction machinery and equipment to ensure optimal operation and safety standards are maintained. Follow construction grading plans to ensure proper site elevation and drainage are achieved. Collaborate with team members to execute site preparation, excavation, and backfilling efficiently. Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety regulations at all times. Requirements Prior construction site experience or related construction utility work is highly preferred. Knowledge of heavy equipment operation including excavators, loaders, backhoes, and Caterpillar machinery. Ability to perform excavation tasks accurately while following safety procedures and regulations. Mechanical knowledge for basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting. Reliable transportation to and from job sites - we have a 75 mile radius from the shop in Culpeper. Have initiative and take pride in your work Strong teamwork skills with the ability to follow detailed instructions on construction grading and utility locating tasks.
