JOB REQUIREMENTS

LiUNA! is currently seeking General Laborers/Spotter to join us to work in Sandston, VA on a long term project. The ideal candidate will have experience working in the construction industry under direct supervision of the foremans and skilled personnel. To include but not limited to the following experience: Spotters will be spotting where crews are working around overhead structures, steel columns and energized equipment. You will be performing tasks in tight spaces and using powerful equipment next to costly, potentially dangerous transformers and capacitor banks, leaving little room for error. Spotter serves as an extra set of eyes for drivers, equipment operators and individual workers on the site. Besides making sure that a truck that's backing up doesn't run into anything or anyone, spotters pay attention to cranes and other equipment operating under or near overhead power lines. Must protect vehicles and equipment that are moving through the site and traversing different surfaces and terrain. Spotting comes with several important responsibilities, starting with remaining visible to truck and equipment operators when they are moving. Wear highly visible clothing Avoid walking into the path of a vehicle, moving equipment, or a swinging load. Avoid walking behind heavy equipment while spotting. Stand where an aerial lift or equipment is going while flagging it back Scan a worksite for hazards and remove them before a job. Focus on your job Do not use a phone, headphones, or other items that can be distracting while spotting. Agree on hand signals before you start a spotting job. Make sure you keep constant visual contact with the driver while the vehicle is in motion. Must be able to walk 5 miles or more a day on the construction site. Ability to work long hours, 6 days a week working outside in all weather conditions

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Frequently lift, push, pull, reach, and/or place objects up to 75 pounds. Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, climb, kneel, and squat. Must be able to perform general laborer construction job duties. Comfortable working in a loud environment. Ability to work outdoors under all weather conditions. Will be loading, unloading and lifting materials. Proficient in reading, writing, hearing, and communicating with all types of personnel. Willingness to work as assigned by supervisor to ensure successful completion of ongoing or new construction projects. Performs a variety of strenuous manual labor tasks. Digs, spreads, and levels dirt and gravel using pick and shovel prior to concrete pours at the site Lifts, carries, and holds building materials, tools, and supplies. Participates in Safety & Environmental initiatives to ensure compliance with State/Federal regulations. Must have a Certified Flagging Certification Card.
