Job Title:
Construction General Laborer Job Description The Construction General Laborer performs a wide range of physical tasks on construction sites, supporting the crew and supervisors to ensure safe, clean, and efficient project execution. This role involves operating basic hand and power tools, preparing and maintaining work areas, and assisting with the movement of materials and equipment throughout the site. Responsibilities Perform physical labor tasks as directed by the supervisor, following instructions accurately and safely. Work closely with crew members to support daily construction activities and meet project timelines. Operate a variety of hand and power tools, including drills, hammers, and other basic construction tools, as directed by management. Clean and prepare construction sites, including erecting scaffolding, removing debris, and properly disposing of waste materials. Dig trenches and perform other ground preparation tasks as needed for construction activities. Load and unload construction supplies and materials around the worksite manually and with the use of equipment. Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area throughout the workday. Follow all site access requirements and procedures to work on base locations. Arrive on time each day and complete assigned tasks within the scheduled 9.5-hour workday, Monday through Friday. Essential Skills Ability to perform sustained physical labor in an outdoor construction environment. Experience working on construction sites and performing general labor tasks. Ability to safely operate basic hand and power tools such as drills, hammers, and other construction tools. Strong teamwork skills with the ability to work effectively with crew members and follow directions from supervisors and management. Capability to clean and prepare construction sites, including erecting scaffolding, removing debris, and digging trenches. Ability to load and unload construction supplies manually and with equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Eligibility and ability to obtain DBIDS access to work on base locations. Possession of a valid REAL ID for site and base access. Access to a reliable vehicle for consistent transportation to and from the worksite. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior experience in construction general labor or site clean-up work. Familiarity with working on base facilities and following access protocols. Strong work ethic and reliability, with consistent attendance and punctuality. Comfort working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to work extended shifts of approximately 9.5 hours per day. Why Work Here? Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Virginia Beach, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
