Position Summary We are seeking a hardworking and safety-focused Underground Construction Laborer to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of underground utilities and structures, including water, sewer, electrical, or telecommunications systems. This role involves working outdoors in varying weather conditions and performing physically demanding tasks as part of a team. We pay prevailing labor union wages based off experience. Key Responsibilities Assist with excavation, trenching, and backfilling activities for underground utility installations. Lay and align pipes, conduits, cables, and related infrastructure according to project specifications. Operate or assist with light construction equipment such as compactors, saws, and jackhammers. Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment from trucks and staging areas. Maintain a clean and organized job site, ensuring safety standards are met at all times. Support the setup and operation of shoring, trench boxes, and other protective systems. Follow directions from the crew foreman or supervisor to ensure efficient project completion. Inspect tools and equipment before use and report any malfunctions or hazards. Comply with company policies, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
Qualifications Required:
High school diploma or GED equivalent. Previous experience in construction, electric utility installation, or related field preferred. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physically demanding labor. Reliable transportation to job sites.
Preferred:
CDL A OSHA
10 or OSHA 30 certification. Experience operating construction equipment (mini excavator, skid steer, etc.). Knowledge of trench safety, confined space, and general construction practices. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 75 lbs regularly. Prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, and working in confined or underground spaces. Ability to work extended hours, weekends, or night shifts as needed.
