Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Civil Construction Superintendent to oversee and coordinate daily field operations on civil construction projects. This position is responsible for ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with construction drawings, specifications, regulatory requirements, and company procedures. Work is primarily underground utilities and smaller mass earthwork. The Superintendent serves as the on-site leader for field operations, managing crews, subcontractors, materials, equipment, schedules, safety, quality control, and daily reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong civil construction experience, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, inspectors, subcontractors, suppliers, and field teams. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Oversee daily field operations, including excavation, grading, concrete work, utilities, roadwork, drainage, and related civil construction activities. Supervise and coordinate field crews, subcontractors, equipment, materials, and suppliers to maintain efficient workflow and site productivity. Ensure all work is performed in accordance with construction drawings, specifications, codes, regulations, permits, and company standards. Read and interpret blueprints, plans, specifications, schedules, and technical documents to guide construction activities. Develop, maintain, and communicate project schedules, including look-ahead schedules, Gantt charts, and daily work plans. Coordinate with project manager regarding scheduling, resource allocation, progress updates, field issues, and project documentation. Enforce company safety policies and OSHA standards through regular site inspections, safety meetings, and ongoing field supervision. Maintain high standards of workmanship and quality control by inspecting work and ensuring compliance with project requirements. Monitor and report project progress, daily logs, crew hours, equipment usage, material tracking, deliveries, delays, safety incidents, and field changes. Identify and help resolve field conflicts, construction issues, design discrepancies, and scheduling challenges. Communicate clearly with internal teams, subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and other project stakeholders regarding changes, updates, and job site needs. Support project documentation, including daily reports, change order information, quality control records, and safety documentation. Provide leadership, direction, training, and accountability to field personnel. Promote and contribute to a positive, productive, and safe work environment. Qualifications 5-10 years of civil construction experience. Minimum of 3 years of experience in a superintendent, foreman, or field supervisory role with strong background in underground utilities. Strong knowledge of civil construction practices, materials, equipment, site logistics, and safety regulations. Experience with excavation, grading, underground utilities , concrete, roadway work, drainage, and infrastructure projects. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and project documents. Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to coordinate multiple crews, subcontractors, and project tasks in a fast-paced construction environment. Experience with look-ahead schedules, Gantt charts, Procore, Bluebeam, or similar construction management software is preferred. Must be dependable, detail-oriented, safety-focused, and able to work independently in the field. Education High School Diploma or GED required. Associate or bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred. Equivalent field experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree. Certifications Required OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety and Health Certification, or ability to obtain within 90 days. First Aid and CPR Certification. Rule 310 Comprehensive Card — Maricopa County. Preferred Confined Space Entry Certification. Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan certification. Traffic Control / Flagger / Supervisor Certification. Competent Person certifications, such as Trenching and Excavation or Fall Protection. Working Conditions Work is primarily performed on active construction sites with exposure to outdoor weather conditions. May require long hours, early mornings, evenings, weekends, or schedule adjustments depending on project needs. Must be able to travel to various job sites throughout the region. Must be able to work around heavy equipment, active traffic control zones, excavation areas, and other construction site conditions. Must be able to stand, walk, climb, bend, lift, and perform duties in a field environment as required. Pay:
