In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, managing bid processes, reviewing construction drawings, and collaborating closely with clients and project teams to ensure successful project initiation. Your expertise will help drive profitable projects while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency. This position offers an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the foundation of our construction endeavors, ensuring seamless transitions from planning to execution. Responsibilities Develop comprehensive project estimates by analyzing blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications using estimating software such as HeavyBid or similar tools. Review construction drawings thoroughly to interpret technical details, material requirements, and scope of work. Prepare detailed cost proposals including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor quotes, and contingency allowances. Manage the bidding process by soliciting competitive quotes from subcontractors and suppliers while negotiating favorable terms. Utilize construction management software and Bluebeam to organize documents, track revisions, and ensure accuracy in estimating data. Collaborate with project managers, clients, and design teams to refine budgets, address potential risks, and optimize cost control strategies. Assist in managing project budgets during pre-construction phases by estimating material costs and evaluating cost implications of design changes. Review contracts and scope of work documents to ensure alignment with project goals and budget constraints. Conduct site visits when necessary to gather on-the-ground insights that influence accurate estimations. Communicate effectively with clients regarding pricing strategies, project timelines, and scope adjustments to foster strong relationships. Experience Proven experience managing projects as a construction estimator within the commercial construction industry. Strong background in construction estimating software such as HeavyBid or equivalent platforms. Extensive knowledge of blueprint reading, interpreting technical drawings, and estimating material requirements from blueprints. Familiarity with construction management software like Bluebeam for document review and project tracking. Demonstrated ability in cost management including material cost estimating, cost control, and budgeting for large-scale projects. Experience negotiating contracts with subcontractors and suppliers to secure competitive pricing. Solid understanding of construction site operations combined with practical field experience is highly desirable. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) for creating spreadsheets and detailed reports. Knowledge of Xactimate or similar estimating tools is a plus but not mandatory.
