ABOUT BAMP

Bay Area Music Project (BAMP) is an El Sistema-inspired after-school music program that supports the social-emotional and academic growth of children in under-resourced communities through high-quality music instruction, nutritious snacks, and homework support. Our staff embraces both the social and musical mission of our work, nurturing every child as both an individual and a musician.

JOB SUMMARY

Site Assistants play a vital role in the program's daily success by supporting student supervision, safety, transitions between activities, attendance procedures, and the development of positive behavior. Working closely with the Site Coordinator, Teaching Artists, and program staff, Site Assistants help ensure that every student feels seen, supported, and empowered to thrive. The ideal candidate is patient, organized, and enjoys working with children from diverse backgrounds. They build positive relationships with students and families, model professionalism and respect, and serve as mentors who reinforce BAMP's core values of safety, kindness, responsibility, inclusion, and community. Site Assistants help foster a positive program culture where students can grow socially, emotionally, and creatively through meaningful after-school experiences.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Support daily student check-in, attendance, and dismissal procedures. Supervise students during transitions, meals, recess, and program activities to ensure a safe and positive environment. Assist with setup, cleanup, and organization of program spaces and materials. Build positive relationships with students and families and serve as a positive role model. Support student behavior and facilitate conflict resolution using restorative and positive youth development practices. Assist with enrichment activities, including games, arts and crafts, sports, and team-building exercises. Provide basic first aid and respond appropriately to student needs and emergencies. Communicate effectively with staff and participate in team meetings, trainings, and professional development.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS

Experience working with school-age youth in after-school programs, camps, classrooms, or similar settings, or a strong desire to learn. Knowledge of, or interest in, restorative practices, trauma-informed care, and positive youth development. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills. The ability to remain calm, flexible, and responsive in a dynamic environment. A collaborative mindset, sense of humor, and commitment to supporting all students. The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.

REQUIREMENTS

Must be at least 18 years of age. High School diploma or equivelent Must successfully pass Live Scan fingerprinting and provide proof of a negative TB test. Must be authorized to work in the United States.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Pay Range:

$20

• 22/hr, depending on experience.
