At West Hollywood Community Housing Corporation (WHCHC), we develop award-winning affordable housing in some of Southern California's most sought-after communities. As Senior Development Manager / Development Manager, you'll lead projects from initial concept to completion. Through long-term partnerships with cities and public agencies, we have earned the opportunity to build transformative projects—but those opportunities demand relentless execution. You'll own every phase of the development cycle. You'll negotiate with public agencies, structure capital financing, manage consultants, oversee construction, and solve problems that don't come with a playbook. It will be demanding and occasionally unreasonable, but it will be yours to run. We also believe affordable housing development is overdue for reinvention. The industry is burdened by manual processes, fragmented information, and bureaucratic reports. We are looking to become more AI-native to adopt smarter systems to deliver projects faster and make better decisions. What You'll Own:

Drive project lifecycles. Lead acquisition, due diligence, and entitlements — navigating an ambiguous regulatory landscape while keeping projects moving at real velocity. Finance capital stacks. Structure and secure competitive financing with public agencies, private lenders, and tax credit investors, all at once. Steward construction. Oversee active builds with a sharp eye on the timeline, budget, and architecture, making sure every dollar hits its mark. Modernize how we work. Push the team to adopt better tools and workflows — AI included — wherever they genuinely speed up decision-making. Build and lead high-performing project teams. Bring together architects, engineers, contractors, attorneys, and consultants to create alignment around a shared vision, drive accountability, and deliver projects on schedule, within budget, and with design excellence. Mitigate risks. Identify project risks early, develop practical solutions, and maintain flexibility through changing conditions and competing priorities. Accelerate perm conversion. Lead the closing team with Asset Management for a swift lease-up process.

Experience and Qualifications:

3+ years of progressively responsible experience in real estate development, with success advancing projects through acquisition, entitlements, financing, construction, and completion. Drives project schedules and manage budgets while upholding exceptional design. Resilient and resourceful problem-solver who anticipates challenges and finds creative solutions. Adept at interpreting and analyzing architectural plans, financial models, and technical reports. Curious and has aptitude for adopting new technologies and improving organizational processes. Skilled in building and leading teams, engaging community stakeholders, and collaborating with government agencies and lenders/investors. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex development concepts to diverse audiences in simple and compelling way.

Compensation:

Title and compensation will be commensurate with experience. Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance; a 403(b) retirement plan with 25% match, and paid vacation and sick leave. Los Angeles-based candidates only. In person. No remote work.
