Role Description The Truss Design Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Citrus Heights, CA, responsible for leading the truss design team and overseeing all aspects of structural truss layout and engineering coordination. This role manages daily design workflows, assigns projects, reviews drawings and calculations, and ensures designs comply with building codes, customer specifications, and company standards. The Truss Design Manager collaborates with sales, production, and project management teams to clarify requirements, resolve design issues, and support accurate estimating and scheduling. Day-to-day responsibilities include mentoring designers, implementing best practices, monitoring quality control, and updating design procedures and documentation. The role also involves communicating with external stakeholders such as engineers, builders, and inspectors to address technical questions and support successful project delivery. Qualifications Ability to lead and mentor a design team, including managing workloads, providing feedback, and supporting professional development. Strong understanding of structural design concepts for wood trusses and building components, including familiarity with relevant building codes and industry standards. Experience using truss design or CAD software, and comfort working with digital drawings, layouts, and technical documentation. Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with internal teams (sales, production, project management) and external partners (builders, engineers, inspectors). Solid organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines in a production-focused environment. Attention to detail and commitment to quality, including reviewing designs for accuracy, safety, and constructability. Problem-solving skills to address design conflicts, field issues, and changing project requirements. Previous experience in truss design, structural components, or construction-related design management; supervisory experience is highly beneficial. Associate or bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, architecture, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Willingness to work on-site in Citrus Heights, CA and engage directly with operations and manufacturing teams.
