Annual About Us Norwood Construction Services is a general contractor performing commercial construction, tenant improvements, remodels, additions, and other construction projects throughout Northern California. We are looking for an experienced Construction Superintendent to manage day-to-day field operations, coordinate subcontractors, maintain schedules, and ensure work is completed safely, correctly, and efficiently. Position Summary The Construction Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing commercial construction projects from start to finish. This role requires strong field experience, the ability to read and understand plans and specifications, coordinate trades, write RFIs, manage schedules, communicate professionally with project teams and clients, and maintain a safe and organized jobsite. Responsibilities Manage daily jobsite operations Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and field personnel Work closely with the Project Manager and project team Read and understand construction plans, specifications, schedules, and subcontractor scopes of work Maintain project schedule and communicate delays, conflicts, or issues Schedule subcontractors and verify work is progressing as planned Coordinate inspections with local jurisdictions Walk the jobsite daily to review safety, quality, progress, and site conditions Conduct jobsite safety meetings and enforce safety requirements Monitor material deliveries, lead times, and jobsite logistics Order and coordinate materials as needed Perform or assist with material takeoffs Write RFIs and communicate field questions or conflicts Complete daily reports and maintain proper jobsite documentation Communicate with owners, owner representatives, architects, inspectors, subcontractors, and suppliers Verify work is completed per plans, specifications, and quality standards Maintain a clean, safe, and organized jobsite Identify and help resolve field conflicts before they impact the project Maintain professionalism when dealing with clients, vendors, inspectors, and project team members Qualifications Construction superintendent experience required Commercial construction experience required Strong knowledge of commercial construction trades and sequencing Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and project documents Ability to manage subcontractors and keep work on schedule Strong organization and time management skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Professional appearance and demeanor OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred Computer skills required, including Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, and Procore Valid California driver's license and reliable transportation required Ability to travel to projects as needed Preferred Experience Commercial tenant improvement projects Retail and restaurant construction Commercial remodels and renovations Ground-up commercial construction Scheduling subcontractors Coordinating inspections Daily reports and project documentation Working with owner representatives, architects, inspectors, and subcontractors Material coordination, procurement, and lead-time tracking Physical Requirements Ability to walk active construction sites daily Ability to stand, climb stairs and ladders, bend, kneel, and access work areas as needed Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed Ability to work in active construction environments and varying weather conditions Ability to wear and use required personal protective equipment while on site
