Job description Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in dental assisting, with expertise in chairside support, patient care, and clinical procedures. As a Dental Assistant, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality dental services, ensuring patient comfort, and maintaining efficient clinic operations. This position offers an engaging environment where professionalism, attention to detail, and excellent communication are essential for success. Duties Assist dentists during various procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring smooth workflow and patient comfort. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and maintaining aseptic techniques in accordance with infection control standards. Take and develop dental X-rays and medical imaging to assist in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Dentrix or Epic to ensure accurate documentation of patient histories, treatment notes, and medical coding. Provide patient education on oral health care, post-treatment instructions, and preventive practices tailored to pediatric patients when necessary. Perform vital signs assessment and monitor patient well-being throughout procedures to ensure safety and comfort. Support administrative tasks including dental receptionist duties such as scheduling appointments and managing patient flow while maintaining HIPAA compliance. Maintain inventory of dental supplies and equipment including 3D scanners and other advanced tools to ensure readiness for all procedures. Adhere strictly to infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination within the clinic environment. Collaborate with team members in four-handed dentistry practices to enhance efficiency and reduce procedure times. Requirements Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dental practice. Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for accurate medical documentation and records management. Familiarity with infection control standards, sterilization procedures, and aseptic techniques essential for maintaining a safe clinical environment. Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely following radiation safety guidelines; certification preferred. Strong understanding of pediatric dentistry principles and experience working with pediatric patients is highly desirable. Knowledge of dental specialties including prosthodontics and endodontics is advantageous for supporting diverse treatment needs. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages, including children; compassionate approach required. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail across multiple responsibilities such as medical imaging, assisting chairside, and managing records. Certification in CPR or basic life support (BLS) is preferred; ongoing training in HIPAA compliance is required.
