Full-Time Position Summary In a small commercial contracting company, the Assistant Project Manager (APM) plays a hands-on role in all phases of construction projects, including pre-construction, scheduling, procurement, field supervision, and closeout. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment where versatility and initiative are essential. The APM will coordinate closely with the Owner/Project Manager to ensure projects are completed on time, on budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards. Key ResponsibilitiesProject Coordination & Administration Prepare, review, and maintain all project documentation, including contracts, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and closeout packages. Coordinate permits, inspections, and compliance documentation with local agencies. Keep digital and physical project files organized and up to date. Assist in managing communication between the office, field crews, clients, subcontractors, and vendors. Scheduling & Resource Management Develop and update project schedules using Contractor Foreman, Trello, or other scheduling tools. Coordinate subcontractor and vendor scheduling to align with project timelines. Track material lead times and delivery schedules to prevent delays. Adjust and communicate schedule changes as needed to all stakeholders. Site Supervision & Field Support Conduct regular site visits to verify work progress, quality, and compliance with safety standards. Oversee subcontractor work to confirm scope, schedule, and quality requirements are met. Assist with resolving field conflicts and ensuring job sites are clean, organized, and safe. Document daily site conditions with photos, notes, and progress reports. Client & Stakeholder Relations Prepare and distribute regular project updates to clients. Participate in owner/architect/contractor (OAC) meetings and record meeting minutes. Maintain a professional, solution-oriented approach in all interactions.
Qualifications Required:
2+ years of experience in commercial construction (field or office-based). Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents. Strong organizational and scheduling skills with attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and comfort with project management software Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for site visits.

• English/ Spanish) Hands-on field experience in commercial construction trades. Familiarity with local building codes, inspection processes, and permitting requirements. Core Competencies Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong communication skills—written, verbal, and interpersonal. Problem solver who takes initiative and works with minimal supervision. Professional and client-focused demeanor. Adaptable and resourceful in a small-team setting. Physical Requirements Ability to work in both office and active construction site environments. Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. Walk, stand, climb ladders, and navigate uneven terrain during site visits. Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary based on experience.

$50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
