Description:
- This role is responsible for coordinating field operations, directing project teams and trade partners, maintaining safe and high-quality construction processes, and delivering work in accordance with contract documents, project schedules, client expectations, and applicable
OSHPD/HCAI
requirements. This position reports directly to the Jobsite Project Manager, General Superintendent (if applicable), or other assigned supervisors.- Leads field operations for large commercial healthcare projects, including new construction, additions, renovations, and work within occupied facilities, while maintaining accountability for safety, quality, schedule, and project execution.
- Develops, implements, and monitors jobsite safety plans, OSHA compliance, incident response procedures, emergency planning, pre-task planning, safety walks, meetings, audits, and subcontractor safety performance.
- Plans and manages complex phasing, site logistics, temporary conditions, utility shutdowns, tie-ins, patient/staff access, noise and vibration controls, hospital operational continuity, and
OSHPD/HCAI
requirements.- Creates and manages master schedules, short-interval schedules, look-ahead schedules, manpower plans, recovery strategies, pull-planning, weekly work planning, constraint tracking, and Lean/Last Planner practices as applicable.
- Oversees subcontractors and field personnel, coordinates work across all trades and specialty healthcare systems, leads coordination meetings, and maintains collaborative relationships with owners, healthcare representatives, design teams, inspectors, trades, and unions.
- Manages quality control and closeout activities, including QA/QC plans, mock-ups, first-in-place installations, quality walks, deficiency tracking, as-built documentation, commissioning support, punch-list completion, and owner acceptance.
- Reviews contract documents, scopes, RFIs, submittals, coordination drawings, and field conditions; communicates project impacts; supports cost, labor, equipment, material, permitting, inspections, and site mobilization efforts; mentors field staff and represents Rudolph & Sletten professionally.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
- 15+ years of commercial construction experience, including substantial field leadership experience as a Superintendent or Senior Superintendent.
- Proven experience leading large commercial healthcare projects, including acute-care hospitals, medical centers, occupied healthcare environments, phased construction, infection control, Interim Life Safety Measures, shutdowns, and operational coordination.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of OSHPD/HCAI-regulated construction, inspections, documentation, testing, approvals, safety requirements, quality control, contract documents, scheduling, closeout, and cost awareness.
- Comprehensive knowledge of civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire/life-safety, and healthcare-specific building systems.
- Strong ability to manage subcontractors, large field teams, complex schedules, concurrent work activities, and fast-paced project demands.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organization, problem-solving, negotiation, and interpersonal skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, and related construction technology preferred; OSHA 30-hour and First Aid/CPR certifications preferred or required by company policy.
