Position Summary The Assistant Program Manager provides leadership and supervision to residential staff while ensuring a safe, supportive, and trauma-informed environment for youth. The position oversees shift operations, supports staff and youth during crises, and ensures compliance with YES policies, licensing requirements, and program standards. Staff Supervision & Leadership Supervise, coach, and support residential staff. Ensure staff provide consistent supervision, youth engagement, and appropriate behavioral interventions. Address staff performance concerns with the Program Manager. Assist with staff training and participate in staff meetings and in-service training. Promote teamwork, professionalism, and accountability. Youth Support & Programming Support youth in achieving goals identified in treatment plans, safety plans, and Individual Service Plans. Facilitate or co-facilitate groups and activities focused on life skills, education, employment, health, and social development. Maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive environment. Use Trauma-Informed Care and Positive Youth Development practices. Safety & Crisis Intervention Lead and assist with crisis intervention and de-escalation. Provide on-call crisis support on a rotating basis. Serve as a liaison with EMS, law enforcement, PMRT, and other agencies as needed. Complete required Special Incident Reports. Program Operations & Compliance Ensure staffing ratios, schedules, apartment checks, facility checks, and daily operations are maintained. Ensure the facility remains clean, safe, and properly maintained. Ensure staff follow YES policies, licensing requirements, and accreditation standards. Coordinate with the Program Manager regarding maintenance, supplies, activities, and other operational needs. Documentation & Administration Ensure shift summaries and required documentation are accurate and completed on time. Monitor medication logs, sign-in/out records, temperature logs, break logs, and other required documentation. Ensure after-hours intake packets are complete and accurate. Staffing & Scheduling Maintain appropriate staffing coverage for all shifts. Arrange coverage for call-outs, vacations, emergencies, and other staffing needs. Provide shift coverage when necessary. Must be available to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and varied schedules as needed. Minimum Qualifications 1-2 years of supervisory or management experience, preferably working with vulnerable youth. Experience with crisis intervention, de-escalation, or Trauma-Informed Care preferred. Strong communication, leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and remain calm in high-stress situations. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must successfully complete all YES employment requirements, including references, background clearance, and required screenings. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field. Training in Trauma-Informed Care, Crisis Intervention, and/or Positive Youth Development. License Valid California Driver's License and must meet YES vehicle insurance requirements.
