Job Description

Job Summary:
Spooner's Woodworks, Inc., a leading commercial millwork company, is seeking a Project Manager for our Doors Department. This role is responsible for managing door projects from estimation through completion, including pricing, procurement, scheduling, and coordination. The ideal candidate will have experience in project management, estimating within the commercial doors, frames, and hardware.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate & schedule crew and subcontractors with general contractors/owner.
  • Oversee door projects from bid to completion, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
  • Coordinate with clients, architects, general contractors, and internal teams to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, tracking progress and addressing any delays or challenges.
  • Conduct site visits as needed to verify measurements, assess project requirements, and resolve issues.
  • Monitor project budgets and ensure cost control measures are in place.
  • Manage communication between all stakeholders to provide updates, resolve conflicts, and address concerns promptly.
  • Review project plans, specifications, and bid documents to prepare accurate cost estimates for doors, frames, and hardware.
  • Conduct material takeoffs and determine labor, materials, and subcontractor costs.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining project integrity and quality.
  • Prepare and submit detailed bids and proposals within deadlines.
  • Maintain an up-to-date database of material costs, labor rates, and supplier pricing.
  • Source and procure materials, including doors, frames, hardware, and accessories, ensuring competitive pricing and quality.
  • Negotiate with vendors and suppliers to secure favorable terms, pricing, and lead times.
  • Issue purchase orders and track deliveries to meet project schedules.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and coordinate material deliveries to job sites or production.
  • Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong knowledge of commercial doors, frames, and hardware, including wood and metal doors.
  • Experience in project management, estimating, and purchasing within the millwork or construction industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural blueprints, drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Proficiency in cost estimation software and project management tools (e.g., Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, ProTech or similar).
  • Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical abilities to accurately assess costs and budgets.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Problem-solving skills to proactively address project challenges.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Understanding of woodworking materials, techniques, and industry standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Education and Experience:
  • Proven experience as an estimator or similar role in the woodworking or construction industry.
  • Familiarity with custom door projects and their unique requirements.
  • Experience with cost estimation software and tools.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to perform site visits and assessments, including climbing, walking, and standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to sit and work on a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in a noisy and dusty environment while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy materials and equipment (up to 50 pounds).

$68,000.00 - $98,000.00 per year
