The Project Director / Project Executive provides executive-level leadership throughout the construction project lifecycle, from preconstruction through closeout. This role oversees project teams, maintains key client and design relationships, drives financial performance, and supports business development efforts across the San Diego market. Serving as a primary point of contact for owners, architects, consultants, and project teams. Leading project pursuits, proposal development, and interview preparation. Supporting business development and expansion of the company's San Diego market presence. Maintaining accountability for project budgets, forecasting, cost control, billing, and profitability. Identifying and managing project risks and opportunities. Building and maintaining relationships with owners, architects, consultants, subcontractors, and industry partners. Building, leading, coaching, and developing high-performing project teams. Managing project resources and staffing requirements. Promoting and enforcing company safety policies and procedures. Ensuring projects meet client expectations for quality, schedule, budget, and overall performance. Leading preconstruction efforts including client management, strategy development, constructability review, and resource planning. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered. 15+ years of progressive construction experience. Previous experience as a Senior Project Manager, Project Executive, Operations Leader, or similar role. Strong knowledge of and established relationships within the San Diego construction market. Proven ability to lead large, complex construction projects or major programs. Strong understanding of construction budgeting, cost control, forecasting, and financial reporting. Extensive experience with Lump Sum, GMP, Negotiated, Design-Build, and Hard Bid delivery methods. Strong knowledge of estimating, preconstruction, constructability, and value engineering. Experience with public sector, healthcare, higher education, civic/municipal, or infrastructure projects strongly preferred. Self-perform construction experience preferred. Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and client relationship skills. Strong business development and relationship-building capabilities. Ability to lead and develop high-performing teams. Strong decision-making, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
