OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Construction Manager to support our Head of Construction. This role is for someone with a strong background in interior residential remodeling who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with multiple projects moving at once. You will work alongside the Head of Construction to ensure every project is completed on time and to the highest quality standards, collaborating daily with designers, estimators, clients, crews, subcontractors, and suppliers to deliver results that meet or exceed client expectations.
WHO ARE WE?
Elite Remodels is a fully integrated design-build remodeling company based in Santa Barbara, California. For 15 years, we've handled every part of the remodel in-house (design, showroom, materials, and construction), so our clients work with one team from start to finish. DUTIES Project Planning & Pre-Construction Review project scope, blueprints, and specifications with the design team and estimators. Support the Head of Construction in developing project plans, timelines, and schedules. Execution & On-Site Management Support the Head of Construction in overseeing remodeling projects from start to completion, ensuring timelines are met. Support the Head of Construction in managing daily site operations, labor, and communication with subcontractors and vendors, ensuring work progresses according to plan. Coordinate in-house crews and subcontractors on site to keep work moving smoothly and on schedule. Create the calendar for each project. Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, quality, and adherence to safety protocols. Handle day-to-day problem-solving on site, troubleshooting issues and resolving conflicts as they arise. Anticipate delays and implement contingency plans or change orders to keep projects on track. Manage time efficiently to meet project deadlines while maintaining high-quality workmanship. Use construction management software for project tracking and documentation Client Communication Support the Head of Construction as a point of contact for clients throughout the project. Provide regular, proactive updates on project status, progress, and any changes or potential delays. Address client concerns and questions promptly and professionally. Support the Head of Construction in managing client expectations regarding timelines and scope. Project Closeout Support the Head of Construction with final inspections and punch list completion. Ensure all necessary documentation (e.g., warranties, permits) is provided to the client. Technical Skills Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and building codes.
NON-NEGOTIABLE REQUIREMENTS
Read carefully. If you don't meet every item below, this role is not for you. 1. A minimum of 5 years of hands-on interior residential remodeling experience. Concrete, exterior, outdoor, and commercial work do not count toward this requirement. 2. Fully bilingual. Fluent English and Spanish are both required. 3. A people person. You are a team player who lifts the team up like a coach while staying firm on the company's standards. 4. Professional with clients. You explain things clearly, communicate with clients professionally, and deliver high-level customer service. 5. Patient and calm under pressure. Plans change, problems come up every day, and clients and crews will ask you the same questions more than once. If you get frustrated easily, lose your temper, raise your voice, snap at people, or get short with them when things go wrong, this is not the job for you. 6. Coachable and process-driven. You take feedback without getting defensive or upset, and you follow the company's processes, SOPs, and systems. 7. You see what's wrong before anyone points it out. Some people walk into a room and notice the crooked outlet cover, the tile that's off by a hair, the trim gap, the paint line that isn't clean. Other people walk into the same room and see nothing. If that's not how your brain works, this job will be miserable for you and for us. We are looking for the first kind of person. 8. High standards. You hold yourself and the work to them every day. 9. Solution-minded. You see problems as challenges and come with solutions. 10. Comfortable in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Many projects move at once, and things move quickly. If you're used to a slower rhythm, this is not the role for you. 11. A strong professional reputation in the community. References are required. 12. Must pass a pre-employment drug test. This is a drug-free workplace. A Plus, But Not Required Experience managing a construction company or construction team. We look for the right attitude and personality first. Management experience can be developed, but the traits above cannot. Schedule, Pay & Career Path This role starts Monday through Friday, hourly, at $45
  • 50 per hour depending on experience.
Fridays are a late day, with an end time of 7:30 PM. Occasional Saturdays as projects require. The path from here is to take on your own projects. As you prove you can run them to our standard, this role moves into a salaried management position working Monday through Saturday. If a six-day week isn't something you want long term, this is not the right fit. Why Join Us? Be part of a company with a rich history of delivering excellence in design and craftsmanship. Work alongside a talented, passionate team committed to creating exceptional spaces. Room for growth within the company. If you are passionate about remodeling and possess the necessary skills, we invite you to apply for this exciting opportunity to contribute to our dynamic team.
