You'll own the full preconstruction process — integrating with design teams, guiding owners, and delivering winning strategies — while mentoring a growing team and playing an active role in business development.

Director of Preconstruction Services Compensation & Benefits Base Salary:
$165,000 - $175,000+ Plus generous profit sharing and one of the most comprehensive benefits packages in the industry, including: Four choices of highly rated medical plans (covering employees and dependents) Dental and vision coverage Generous paid time off 401(k) with employer contribution Profit sharing Life insurance, AD&D, and long-term disability Employee assistance programs and mental health resources Identity theft protection What You'll Do Estimating & Budgeting Lead complete estimates from schematic design through construction documents Provide interim budgets at key design milestones to keep projects on target Evaluate subcontractor bids for scope completeness and manage the full bid process Champion internal peer review before presenting to clients Team & Client Leadership Lead the entire project team — internal and external — from inception through final estimate Build trust with owners and architects through responsive, professional service Mentor direct reports with regular feedback and career development support Foster a collaborative team culture focused on safety, quality, and profitability Constructability & Risk Develop project-specific plans covering cost, schedule, quality, and self-performance Identify document discrepancies, long-lead items, and high-risk design elements early Prepare value engineering options and collaborate with design teams on solutions Manage preconstruction costs in relation to contract revenue and scope Business Development Actively participate in lead generation, proposal writing, and client presentations Build and maintain long-term client relationships in key market sectors Support the Director in tracking project pursuits and managing department workload What You Bring 7+ years of preconstruction experience with a commercial general contractor Proven estimating ability across multiple design phases Experience in one or more sectors: Municipal, K-12, Higher Education, Healthcare, Multi-family, Senior Living, or Office Strong communicator comfortable presenting to owners, architects, and executive stakeholders A track record of leading teams and developing junior staff #PEG2
