Job Description
Position Overview The Commercial Operations Manager is responsible for leading and managing the overall operations of a commercial construction unit. This role oversees daily operations including safety, quality, production, manpower, equipment, and logistics, ensuring projects are executed efficiently and meet financial and performance goals. The Operations Manager serves as a key leader within the organization, driving operational strategy, supporting project execution, and maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the commercial operations team, including superintendents, project managers, and field personnel. Oversee daily operations to ensure alignment with safety, quality, production, and schedule objectives. Forecast manpower needs based on project demands and allocate resources effectively across projects. Develop and implement operational processes, procedures, and performance standards. Monitor project performance including productivity, labor hours, and financial outcomes. Collaborate with project teams to ensure all work meets contract requirements and scope expectations. Lead project planning efforts including logistics, site access, equipment utilization, and workflow coordination. Support preconstruction efforts by reviewing estimates and ensuring proper execution strategies are in place. Conduct regular project reviews to track progress, performance, and financial results. Oversee equipment management, ensuring proper usage, maintenance, and inspections. Implement and support training programs to improve field efficiency, safety, and workforce development. Promote and enforce jobsite safety standards, including daily safety practices and training. Manage relationships with clients, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure successful project delivery. Lead communication and alignment between field operations, project management, and leadership teams. Resolve operational challenges and drive continuous improvement across projects and teams. Leadership & Team Development Lead, mentor, and develop field and project management teams. Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and high performance. Support career development and training initiatives for team members. Drive engagement and alignment across all levels of the organization. Manage conflict resolution and promote effective communication across teams. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred. 10+ years of experience in construction operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership or supervisory role. Experience managing commercial construction operations, preferably within concrete or self-perform scopes. Proven ability to lead teams and manage large-scale operations. Strong understanding of construction processes, scheduling, logistics, and workforce management. Experience tracking productivity, labor performance, and financial results. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment. Ability to handle conflict resolution and lead critical conversations effectively. Working Conditions & Physical Requirements Ability to travel to project sites as needed. Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, extended hours, and occasional weekends. Ability to work in various weather conditions and active construction environments. Capable of standing, walking, and performing physical tasks throughout the day. Ability to lift and move materials as needed. Commercial Operations Manager
