Multi-Site Operations Location:
Cheshire, North Haven, Connecticut Annual Salary:

We bring passion, purpose, and a strong customer focus to everything we do. We're seeking an experienced Area Operations Manager to lead operations across multiple customer locations. This is a highly visible leadership role for someone who can develop strong teams, strengthen customer relationships, and turn operational goals into measurable results. As the primary operational leader for your assigned locations, you will provide direct leadership to Site Managers while ensuring consistent execution across safety, staffing, productivity, quality, associate relations, financial performance, and customer service. What Success Looks Like You will be successful in this role when: Assigned locations consistently meet or exceed safety, productivity, quality, and customer service expectations. Staffing remains at or above 95% of established targets throughout the year. Retention improves and turnover decreases across direct and subordinate teams. DART rates and workers' compensation costs meet or improve against established goals. Contribution Margin and Net Operating Income targets are achieved or exceeded. Site Managers demonstrate measurable growth through coaching, accountability, and performance management. Operational audits, safety inspections, and compliance reviews produce satisfactory results. Strong succession plans are established across assigned locations. Company initiatives and process improvements are implemented consistently and effectively. What You'll Do Lead, coach, and hold Site Managers accountable across multiple customer locations. Travel regularly between assigned locations to maintain leadership visibility and operational consistency. Partner with Site Managers to achieve staffing, safety, productivity, quality, financial, and customer service goals. Conduct site visits, operational reviews, safety inspections, and business performance assessments. Review KPIs, identify performance gaps, and develop action plans that produce measurable improvement. Serve as an escalation point and trusted operational partner for customer leadership. Partner with Talent Acquisition to maintain strong candidate pipelines and appropriate staffing levels. Support hiring, development, promotions, corrective actions, and terminations. Ensure compliance with company policies, audit requirements, and applicable federal, state, and local laws. Build a strong safety culture through consistent coaching, inspections, reporting, and corrective action. Identify high-potential employees and create meaningful development and succession opportunities. Collaborate with regional leadership and support teams to implement company initiatives and continuous improvement efforts. Support budgeting, labor management, payroll oversight, and financial performance. Provide regional leadership with clear updates regarding operational performance, risks, opportunities, and recommendations. Leadership grounded in FHI's Purpose, Vision, and Values. QualificationsExperience Previous experience as a Site Manager or in a comparable operational leadership position. Demonstrated success leading operational performance, safety, staffing, and customer relationships within a warehouse, logistics, distribution, or supply chain environment. Experience coaching, developing, and leading other managers. Multi-site leadership experience is preferred. Education We believe skills, leadership ability, and experience are what truly matter. Formal education can be valuable, but it is not a strict requirement for success in this role. Knowledge and Skills Strong leadership and people-development capabilities. Ability to influence outcomes and drive accountability across multiple locations. Strong operational and financial business acumen. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong relationship-building, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard business technology. Valid driver's license and the ability to travel regularly. Ability to successfully complete a background check. Physical and Scheduling Requirements Frequent travel between assigned customer locations. Ability to stand, walk, bend, pull, stretch, twist, and lift while working safely in warehouse environments. Ability to work in varying hot and cold temperatures. Flexibility to work varying hours based on operational needs. Ability to use standard office equipment and work in a typical office environment. Ability to focus on a computer screen for extended periods.
