Our expertise includes structured cabling, security systems, access control, surveillance, and integrated building technologies. We partner with developers, general contractors, property managers, engineers, and ownership groups to deliver reliable, high-performance solutions throughout every phase of construction. Position Overview VIP Systems is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Permit Specialist to oversee and coordinate the permitting process for residential and commercial construction projects. This role serves as a critical liaison between our sales, project management, operations, engineering partners, municipalities, and customers to ensure projects move efficiently from contract execution through permitting and installation. The ideal candidate has experience in construction, architecture, engineering, or a related field and possesses a strong understanding of municipal permitting processes, construction documentation, and regulatory requirements. This individual must communicate professionally, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and navigate challenges effectively in a fast-paced construction environment. Requirements Required Qualifications 1-3+ years of experience in permitting, permit expediting, construction administration, project coordination, architecture, engineering, or a related field. Proven experience preparing, submitting, and expediting permit applications. Strong understanding of construction plans, engineering drawings, and permit documentation. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, site plans, and construction documents. Understanding of engineering plans and construction methodologies. Experience working directly with municipal permitting departments and regulatory agencies. Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities simultaneously. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, PDF software, CRM platforms, and digital document management systems. Self-motivated with strong follow-up, problem-solving, and time management skills. Ability to handle difficult situations and individuals professionally, with tact and firmness. Preferred Qualifications Experience in low-voltage systems, telecommunications, electrical contracting, security integration, or commercial construction. Experience supporting luxury residential or commercial development projects. Familiarity with permitting processes across South Florida municipalities. Experience coordinating with engineers, architects, surveyors, and third-party consultants. Knowledge of zoning, building code requirements, and construction compliance procedures. Associate's degree, bachelor's degree, or technical training in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
