Our office building and its iconic red HARBCO sign has been recognizable to all passing by on I-4 in Orlando for almost 30 years. As we continue our controlled expansion throughout Florida, we are actively seeking team members that wish to elevate their career with Harbco in the commercial construction industry. - A construction superintendent is the eyes and ears of on site operations for a typical Harbco project. Our superintendents need to be comfortable with commercial construction and willing and able to manage on site daily progression of a project up until completion. Work typically includes preconstruction examination of construction plans and documents and continues with managing subcontractors until completion. Most of the work for our superintendents is based on site, and normally includes a site office. The formal education of our superintendents can vary, although we recognize the value of construction experience as an acceptable substitute in many cases . - Duties for a Harbco construction superintendent may include: Oversee on site operations for commercial construction projects, whether it be horizontal/vertical new construction, build-out, renovation, or other Competently communicating with Harbco team members, architects, engineers, inspectors, and other members of a project Understand and coordinate trades of construction for a given project, including site, concrete, masonry, roofing, siding, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, framing, waterproofing, structural and other trades Having a keen eye to identify and resolve conflicts or non-compliance with regulations, standards, specifications or construction plans during or sometime in the future of construction, and an ability to propose a potential solution Organizing meetings and cooperating with team members in various roles as necessary Travel between multiple job sites and simultaneously manage work loads of individual projects Ensure that Harbco job safety standards are met Maintain an organized work space, whether it be in an office setting, company vehicle, or elsewhere Coordinating with subcontractors to ensure the schedule is generally followed Assisting in the needs required by Harbco affiliated companies, including facility maintenance tasks for varying properties Accepting and adopting feedback and adapt to a changing landscape and comfortably learn new skills - Qualifications for a Harbco construction superintendent may include: Having a thorough understanding of commercial construction processes and scopes of work Ability to comprehensively understand construction and technical documents, including plans, submittals, RFIs, schedules, inspections reports, materials testing engineering results, etc. Being comfortable using Microsoft Office Suite, especially Outlook on phone, tablet or computer Being comfortable using or learning to use construction management software Ability to complete thorough daily job logs Ability to clearly explain ones point of view, both orally and in writing Familiarity with the operation of hand tools and heavy equipment Familiarity with the operation of office equipment, such as phones, tablets, computers, cameras, scanners, etc. Generally fit shape to handle general construction physical requirements Ability to stand for several hours at a time and to walk in varying climate conditions and on uneven ground Being able to maintain composure in stressful situations in order to perform tasks without emotional bias Being willing to undergo a background check, drug test and personality evaluation prior to being hired Being willing to undergo drug tests whilst employed - Standard benefits for our employees include health insurance, paid time off, 401(k), and paid construction certification courses.
