Yoder Homes is seeking an experienced, highly organized, and proactive Construction Project Manager to oversee the successful construction of semi-custom and custom single-family homes throughout the Sarasota, Florida area. The Project Manager will be responsible for managing projects from pre-construction through completion, with a strong focus on schedule effectiveness, budget control, quality, communication, and customer satisfaction . The ideal candidate has a minimum of 5 years of experience managing semi-custom and custom residential construction projects and understands what it takes to successfully build a high-quality home in Southwest Florida. This person must be able to anticipate upcoming work, identify potential issues before they become problems, communicate effectively with clients and trade partners, and maintain control of the project from start to finish. Key Responsibilities Project & Schedule Management Manage the day-to-day construction activities for assigned single-family residential projects. Develop, maintain, and proactively manage project schedules from pre-construction through completion. Future forecast upcoming tasks, materials, inspections, and trade activities to keep projects moving efficiently. Identify potential schedule conflicts, delays, or material issues before they impact the project. Coordinate trade partners and vendors to ensure work is completed according to schedule. Monitor project progress and adjust schedules as necessary. Maintain accurate project documentation and communicate schedule changes promptly. Ensure projects are completed on time while maintaining Yoder Homes' standards for quality. Plan & Construction Document Review Read and interpret architectural and structural construction plans , including sections, elevations, schedules, and construction details. Understand how architectural and structural components come together during construction. Identify discrepancies, conflicts, and constructability issues before they impact the field. Coordinate questions and required revisions with architects, engineers, designers, subcontractors, and the Yoder Homes team. Review plans prior to and throughout construction to ensure the project is being built according to approved documents. Client Communication & Customer Experience Serve as a primary point of contact for homeowners throughout the construction process. Provide clients with consistent weekly project updates regarding progress, upcoming activities, decisions, and potential issues. Communicate clearly and professionally with clients regarding schedule, selections, changes, and construction-related questions. Set appropriate expectations and proactively communicate changes rather than allowing surprises. Maintain a high level of customer service from pre-construction through final completion and warranty transition. Trade Partner & Vendor Management Establish and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and trade partners. Clearly communicate project expectations, schedules, quality standards, and site requirements. Coordinate multiple trades to ensure efficient sequencing and minimize conflicts. Hold trade partners accountable for schedule, workmanship, safety, and contractual requirements. Address issues professionally and proactively while maintaining productive long-term relationships. Budgeting, Estimating & Cost Control Assist with and/or manage project estimating, material takeoffs, budgets, and cost tracking. Review plans and specifications to identify material and labor requirements. Understand construction costs and the financial impact of schedule changes, design changes, and field conditions. Monitor project budgets and identify potential cost overruns before they occur. Review subcontractor proposals and pricing for accuracy and completeness. Assist with change orders, purchase orders, and project cost documentation. Maintain awareness of project financial performance throughout construction. Building Codes & Inspections Maintain a working knowledge of applicable Florida state and local building codes and residential construction requirements. Coordinate required inspections and ensure work is completed in accordance with approved plans and applicable codes. Work with inspectors, subcontractors, engineers, and other professionals to resolve code or inspection issues. Stay informed of changes to applicable building requirements. Quality Control Maintain Yoder Homes' standards for craftsmanship, quality, and attention to detail. Conduct regular site visits and inspections throughout construction. Identify incomplete, incorrect, or substandard work and coordinate timely corrections. Verify that construction conforms to plans, specifications, and project standards. Anticipate potential quality issues and address them before they become costly corrections. Safety Maintain a strong understanding of residential construction safety standards and job-site safety practices. Promote a safe and organized working environment on all assigned projects. Ensure trade partners follow applicable safety requirements. Identify and address unsafe conditions promptly. Maintain awareness of OSHA and other applicable construction safety requirements. Construction Management Software & Technology Maintain accurate project information, schedules, documentation, communications, and selections within the company's construction management software. Utilize Buildertrend effectively for scheduling, project management, communication, documentation, and client interaction. Utilize Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and related applications , for project management and reporting. Embrace technology and continuously look for ways to improve project communication, organization, and efficiency. Qualifications 5+ years of residential construction project management experience. Proven experience building semi-custom and custom single-family homes . Strong knowledge of residential construction processes from pre-construction through completion. Experience managing multiple trades and subcontractors on active construction sites. Ability to read and understand architectural and structural plans and construction details. Experience with estimating, material takeoffs, budgets, and cost control. Working knowledge of Florida and local residential building codes. Knowledge of residential construction safety standards. Proven ability to develop and manage construction schedules. Experience with Buildertrend or similar construction management software. Proficiency with Microsoft Office , particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. About the Role This is a hands-on position for an experienced residential construction professional who takes ownership of their projects and understands that successful project management requires more than simply following a schedule.
