Job Description

SuperintendentPosition Overview We are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to lead on-site operations for commercial and industrial projects. The Superintendent will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to required quality standards. This role requires strong leadership, hands-on construction experience, and the ability to coordinate and supervise MEP trades, subcontractors, and craftsmen while maintaining clear communication with project management, clients, and inspectors.

Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage all on-site construction activities, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and to quality standards.

Coordinate, schedule, and supervise subcontractors and trade crews, with particular emphasis on MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) trades to ensure seamless installation and commissioning.

Review plans, specifications, and contract documents to confirm scope, clarify discrepancies, and implement work sequences.

Develop and maintain project schedules, monitor progress, and implement corrective actions to mitigate delays.

Enforce site safety programs and OSHA requirements; conduct regular site safety meetings, inspections, and toolbox talks.

Perform quality control inspections and coordinate with QA/QC personnel to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and industry standards.

Manage materials, equipment, and logistics on site to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.

Prepare and maintain daily reports, progress updates, RFIs, submittals, site logs, and as-built documentation.

Collaborate with project managers and engineers to manage change orders, resolve technical issues, and control project costs.

Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, owners, inspectors, and stakeholders and represent the company in on-site meetings and walkthroughs.

Mentor and develop field staff, promote productive team performance, and enforce company policies and procedures.

QualificationsMinimum 7+ years of hands-on construction experience with at least 3 years in a Superintendent role on commercial or industrial projects.

Proven experience coordinating and supervising MEP installations (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) and working knowledge of MEP systems and sequencing.

Strong understanding of construction methods, means and methods, reading blueprints, specifications, and shop drawings.

Demonstrated ability to manage schedules using scheduling tools (MS Project, Primavera P6 or equivalent) and track progress against milestones.

Knowledge of construction safety regulations and best practices (OSHA 30 preferred) with a track record of maintaining safe job sites.

Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; able to coordinate multiple trades and motivate teams.

Experience with quality control processes, submittals, RFIs, change management, and on-site documentation.

Proficiency with construction software and technology (Procore, PlanGrid, BIM coordination preferred).Valid drivers license; ability to travel to project sites and spend extended periods on site; physical ability to perform job duties.

Degree or diploma in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
