We are seeking a Construction Manager to join our team in Chicago. You could manage day-to-day site operations, oversee construction sequencing and methodology, ensure regulatory and safety compliance, control budgets and resources, and maintain stakeholder communication with clients, architects, engineers and trade partners. Commercial or civil construction • on-site project leadership What you would do Typical responsibilities could include: Managing day-to-day site operations, safety protocols and regulatory compliance across active construction programs Planning and controlling construction sequencing, methodology and worksite logistics Monitoring and controlling project budgets, timelines and resource allocation Leading, coordinating and communicating with construction crews, subcontractors and trade partners Conducting regular safety inspections, toolbox talks and compliance audits to maintain site standards Managing quality control, inspections and documentation in line with project specifications Reporting project progress, risks and issues to project leadership and clients Mentoring and developing site staff and junior team members Liaising with architects, engineers, clients and procurement to resolve on-site challenges What you could bring Most roles of this type require the following: Must-have 5-10 years' site management or construction management experience, with at least 5 years leading on-site teams SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) or equivalent safety certification Current First Aid certification or willingness to obtain Proficiency in AutoCAD or equivalent design software for site planning Working knowledge of construction sequencing, budgeting, resource planning and safety compliance Strong communication and stakeholder management across multiple trades and disciplines Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or equivalent field experience Authorization to work in the United States Nice-to-have PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent project management certification Experience managing LEED or sustainable building projects Experience with construction management software platforms Advanced proficiency in BIM (Building Information Modeling) What roles of this type could offer Most roles of this type offer the following, dependent on the industry and seniority of the role: Leadership of complex, visible construction programs with scope to shape delivery approach and team performance Opportunity to work on diverse project types and scales, from commercial interiors to major civil infrastructure Potential progression toward senior or principal site leadership roles, where supported by project scope and performance Professional development through safety training, certifications and project management courses Competitive benefits package including medical, dental and vision coverage, paid time off, 401(k) matching and flexible work arrangements where site-based operations allow About Specialist Staffing Group We are a specialist recruitment firm dedicated to connecting skilled construction and project management professionals with leading organizations.
