ABOUT THE ROLE
By joining the Engineered Systems Sales and Installation department of GFE, you would work alongside a small group of committed individuals with hundreds of years of cumulative industry experience. This position oversees the design and scope process for each project during its design stage while managing a team of designers. An eye for detail, strong organizational and communication skills, the ability to multi-task, and cooperative participation within a team will be crucial in this fast-paced and challenging position.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Oversee the design and scope process for each project during its design stage Manage and oversee a team of designers Oversee and create fire alarm and special hazards construction drawings using AutoCAD Compile all accompanying documentation, permit applications, record keeping, and as-built drawings Assess each design for compliance with applicable NFPA and IBC codes, local Authority Having Jurisdiction requirements, and manufacturer's specifications Provide general support to sales estimators and project technicians within the department
WHAT YOU'LL BRING 5-10
years of experience in the design of fire alarm systems and/or special hazards At a minimum, NICET Level 3 certification in those fields, with Level 3 in fire alarm being the priority; NICET Level 4 in fire alarm is preferred Previous working experience and proficiency in 2D drafting with AutoCAD (an absolute requirement) College education in a field related to engineering, construction, or design (preferred) Fundamental understanding of low voltage electrical wiring, fire alarm system operations, and life safety code requirements Clear written communication and coherent graphic representation skills Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and be a good leader Knowledge of, or experience with, construction plan drawing and drafting Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office products
