Job Title:
Civil Project Manager Job Description This role leads and supports heavy highway and DOT roadway projects from pre-construction through closeout as part of a close-knit project management team. The Construction Project Manager oversees complex roadway and civil infrastructure work, ensuring projects meet budget, schedule, safety, and quality expectations. This position suits an experienced, hands-on leader who enjoys working closely with field teams and collaborating across estimating, operations, and subcontractors within a team-oriented, family-run environment. Responsibilities + Manage all aspects of heavy highway and DOT construction projects from award through completion, including planning, execution, and closeout. + Oversee project budgets, schedules, and cost controls to ensure financial performance and timely delivery. + Manage subcontractors and self-performed work, ensuring alignment with project plans, specifications, and quality standards. + Coordinate closely with estimating and operations teams during project handoff to ensure a smooth transition into construction. + Review and manage contract documents, drawings, and specifications, identifying and addressing potential issues proactively. + Lead regular coordination meetings with owners, subcontractors, and internal teams to communicate progress, resolve issues, and maintain alignment. + Track job costs, change orders, and forecasting, and provide accurate and timely project reporting. + Ensure compliance with DOT requirements, safety regulations, and internal quality control procedures on all projects. + Support and guide field leadership, providing direction to superintendents and field crews to achieve project objectives. + Travel to project sites throughout the Midwest as needed to monitor progress, support field operations, and maintain client relationships. + Participate in or support bidding and estimation activities as needed, leveraging estimating software and project management tools. + Mentor and support junior team members, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented project environment.
