Confers with contractors in the solution of problems. Coordinates pay estimates with contractor. Composes correspondence and reports related to projects. Conducts Prebid & Pre-construction conferences. Performs utility locates and general field surveys. Completion of work assignments will require the operation of a vehicle. Demonstrates strong project management skills, including prioritizing tasks, tracking progress, and supporting timely project completion. General knowledge of all types of building, paving and utility construction. Ability to interpret building, paving and utility plans and specifications. Ability to lean and reach as need to read and interpret building plans and specifications from a print that maybe as large as 36 by 48 inches with information printed as small as twenty characters per inch. Ability to traverse uneven terrain, climb steps or ladders, and tolerate environmental nuisances associated with construction sites. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, employees of other departments, representatives of other organizations, and the public. Ability to work outdoors when inclement weather conditions exist. Ability to operate a computer and perform word processing and e-mail functions. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing. Strong computer proficiency, including the ability to learn and use project management, inspection, and reporting software. Valid Kansas driver's license and the ability to maintain. Ability to effectively plan, organize and supervise work of others. Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and make informed decisions per the to plans and specifications with minimal supervision. Ability to plan, organize, supervise, and mentor direct reports, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and in compliance. Required Experience and Training Six (6) years of experience working on complex, multi-phase and multi-discipline projects, with responsibility for inspection activities and adherence to safety, quality, and compliance standards. Five (5) years of experience interpreting construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications to guide field activities, coordinate work, ensure accuracy, and maintain quality across all project phases. Five years of supervisory experience. A Valid Driver License. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need of a sponsorship. Preferred Experience and Training Graduation from a four-year college. Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification. Six (6) years of airport construction experience on active airfield or aviation infrastructure projects performing inspection duties on complex, multi-phase, multi-discipline construction projects, including managing multiple projects simultaneously, with direct responsibility for safety compliance, quality control, and contract adherence. Two (2) years of experience performing utility locates in active construction zones on construction projects. Two (2) years of Experience using AutoCAD for field verification and interpretation of construction drawings and plans. Offers of employment are contingent upon passing a ten-year background investigation, including employment, driver's license, security threat assessment (STA) and criminal history records check (CHRC) and the ability to obtain a movement drivers certification.
