HEAVY CIVIL UTILITY SUPERINTENDENT
Job Summary:
The Heavy Civil Utility Superintendent will be responsible for leading field operations on complex infrastructure projects including roadways, sewer and water systems. Projects range from $1M-$20M + and include municipal and state-funded work under prevailing wage requirements.
Equipment Worked On:
Heavy-duty trucks: Mack Trucks, Kensworth, Peterbilt Heavy equipment: Caterpillar, John Deere Pickup trucks: Ford and GMC Trailers (air brakes, suspension, lightning, structural)
Duties/Responsibilities:
Lead daily field operations for utility installation (sewer, water, drainage) and roadway construction Manage and direct crews, subcontractors, and equipment to meet aggressive schedules Interpret and execute plans, profiles, grades, and layout Oversee deep excavations, trenching, and shoring systems (trench boxes, sheeting, slide rail, etc.) Coordinate and manage dewatering operations Ensure safe work practices in active roadways and around existing utilities Maintain production tracking, daily reports, and schedule updates Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, Inspectors, and Municipalities Enforce safety, quality, and productivity standards at all times Identify and resolve field issues before they impact schedule or cost
Requirements:
10+ years heavy civil construction experience Proven track record as a Superintendent on utility and roadway projects Strong understanding of: Grades, elevations, and layout Deep excavation and trench safety Shoring systems and confined space work Dewatering systems and groundwater control Working in tight roadways and congested utility corridors Ability to read and interpret plans, specs, and GPS/machine control data Experience managing multiple crews and subcontractors simultaneously Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment
Work Environment & Travel:
Projects located throughout Southeastern Massachusetts and New England Travel is required depending on project location
Pay:
$130,000.00 per year
