Field Foreman - Data Center Commissioning (Fluid Systems)

~40% overnight travel (primarily Northern Virginia and surrounding areas) Overview We are seeking an experienced Field Foreman to lead on-site teams supporting the deployment, operation, and removal of temporary fluid systems used during data center flushing and commissioning . This role is approximately 70% hands-on field leadership and 30% administrative coordination . The ideal candidate brings strong leadership experience, deep knowledge of mechanical fluid systems (pumps, filtration, piping) , and a background working on large construction or commissioning projects , particularly in mission-critical environments. Key Responsibilities Field Leadership (70%) Lead crews in installing, operating, and decommissioning temporary fluid handling systems (pumps, hoses, manifolds, filtration, piping). Oversee system startup, filling, flushing, leak testing, flow balancing, pressure testing, and commissioning support. Monitor and adjust systems to maintain required flow rates, pressures, and temperatures during testing and client witness activities. Troubleshoot fluid-related issues including air entrapment, cavitation, contamination, and leaks. Enforce strict safety protocols (LOTO, confined space, hot work, data-center-specific procedures). Coordinate with commissioning agents, MEP trades, OEMs, general contractors, and client representatives. Perform hands-on work as needed (rigging, piping connections, instrumentation, system isolation). Administrative & Coordination (30%) Complete daily reports, commissioning checklists, test logs, and redline/as-built documentation. Review and mark up P&IDs, loop diagrams, and sequences of operation. Track temporary equipment, maintenance schedules, and consumables. Lead daily safety meetings and coordination briefings. Assist with scheduling and resource planning across multiple active projects. Travel & Schedule Up to 40% overnight travel for project durations ranging from several days to multiple weeks. Flexibility for extended hours and occasional weekend work during critical testing phases. Qualifications Experience 5+ years in construction, startup, or commissioning environments. Minimum 3 years in a foreman or lead role. Direct experience supporting temporary fluid systems or data center commissioning preferred. Technical Skills Strong understanding of fluid dynamics, pump systems, filtration, heat transfer, and pump curves. Ability to read mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and commissioning documentation. Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). Solid understanding of OSHA safety standards. Education & Certifications High school diploma or GED required. Technical training or associate degree in mechanical or HVAC systems preferred. OSHA 30, confined space, or rigging certifications highly desirable. Physical Requirements Ability to work in server halls, raised floors, and elevated work areas. Capable of lifting 50+ lbs and standing for extended periods. Valid driver's license required. Must be able to pass background checks and drug screening for data center access.
