The initial focus will include supporting Walbridge's Clean Construction protocols, jobsite auditing, material and equipment support, and other non-critical-path supplemental services. The Operations Manager - Construction Services is responsible for the operational and financial performance of DFM's construction services accounts and sites. This role will drive growth through business development and hands-on operational leadership, including site mobilization, workforce planning and staffing, subcontractor coordination, safety, quality, financial performance, customer relationships, and continuous improvement. The position will initially support DFM's support of construction services operations and is expected to expand in scope and site responsibility as additional opportunities are identified. Primary Goals and Responsibilities (include but not limited to) Business Development & Growth Identify and pursue new construction services opportunities within the Walbridge operations group and broader non-automotive markets. Identify new and innovative services and products that support customer growth and retention. Review customer proposal documents; lead internal review and coordination of site/field visits; develop bid submittal documents. Lead the team through bid clarification and request-for-information (RFI) processes and support estimating efforts. Partner with Walbridge operations leads to develop launch timing, staffing plans, and transition plans for newly awarded sites; lead site launches. Drive sales growth at current sites, other customer locations, and through new customer opportunities. Participate in business development activities, expansion of existing projects, and client presentations. Conduct account reviews post-launch to ensure quality of process, service, and performance. Site & Operations Leadership Manage and coordinate a cross-functional operational team to achieve strategic growth objectives. Provide leadership and ongoing management of construction support services across multiple sites, including non-critical-path elements of mega-site and data center construction. Coordinate and manage subcontractor-provided labor crews to meet Walbridge's Clean Construction, site cleanliness, safety, and support requirements. Direct and lead site leaders and key field operations staff through servant leadership practices. Lead and develop site teams to be leaders in Safety, Quality, Continuous Improvement, and People Development; create a culture of safety and ensure the highest level of safety, quality, and customer service. Teach, train, and implement Behavior Based Safety concepts. Manage site teams and direct reports to drive customer-focused service delivery and strong employee engagement. Validate that quality standards and scope/completion KPIs are understood, established, tracked, and delivered in alignment with objectives; direct and lead quality initiatives throughout operations. Support development of operational scorecards and customer surveys and drive contract performance. Lead continuous improvement and cost reduction efforts using practical, data-driven methods appropriate for construction and field-service operations, including task analysis to quantify and substantiate results.
Train site leadership and team members on continuous improvement methods, ownership, and accountability. Implement visual management tools and business plan boards at job sites to support performance, communication, and accountability. Review, engineer, and validate change order requests to ensure adherence to scope of work and standards. Review and evaluate existing programs, services, processes, and procedures to determine effectiveness. Develop succession planning depth and grow leadership from within to support new growth and opportunity. Manage subcontracts and maintain overall document management for assigned sites. Participate in strategic planning and problem-solving; evaluate metrics and adjust activities to meet or exceed performance expectations. Champion efficiency and cost reduction initiatives and support launch and integration of new business. Provide program and project management consulting and expertise for peers within the group; drive metrics and reporting. Financial & Account Management Own operational management and financial performance of multiple accounts and sites. Review and analyze financial statements, budget variance reports, operating reports, and other financial information to monitor and achieve financial goals. Assess financial risks and opportunities and communicate results to the team and customer. Build and maintain strong professional relationships with customers, project stakeholders, internal employees, and other partners relevant to account operations; maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders beyond the site level. Role Requirements Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or a similar discipline strongly preferred 10+ years of progressive experience in construction operations, facility services, project/site operations, or a related field, preferably supporting industrial, mission-critical, data center, or other large-scale construction environments. Experience supporting large-scale construction projects, including data center or other mega-site construction, highly preferred. Experience owning multi-site or multi-account financial performance, including budget variance and P&L reporting. Experience supporting subcontracted and/or union labor environments preferred. Meaningful experience implementing continuous improvement processes and cost-saving initiatives. Adaptable self-starter skilled at creating structure in ambiguous, fast-growth environments. Demonstrated ability to build and scale new operations, including establishing processes, developing customer relationships, mobilizing new sites, and operating effectively in an evolving environment. Achievement-oriented with strong leadership skills and a desire for continued growth. Proven analysis and presentation skills, including Microsoft Word, Project, Excel, and PowerPoint. Must be available to travel domestically approximately 50% of the time on an ongoing basis (local/interstate).
