Job Description

DeHaan Homes is seeking an experienced Site Superintendent to join our construction team. This position works directly under the Project Manager and is responsible for the day-to-day field supervision and coordination of our custom residential construction projects. The Site Superintendent serves as DeHaan Homes' primary field presence on assigned projects, helping ensure that work is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to the high-quality standards expected by DeHaan Homes and our clients. Responsibilities Work closely with the Project Manager to execute the construction schedule and keep projects progressing efficiently. Provide daily on-site supervision and coordination of subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors. Coordinate upcoming trades and confirm jobsites are ready for scheduled work. Monitor subcontractor performance, workmanship, and adherence to project plans, specifications, and DeHaan Homes standards. Perform regular quality-control reviews and identify potential issues before they result in rework or schedule delays. Review plans, specifications, selections, and project details to ensure work is being completed correctly. Communicate field conditions, scheduling concerns, trade issues, and project needs promptly to the Project Manager. Maintain clean, organized, professional, and safe jobsites. Enforce DeHaan Homes' expectations for jobsite conduct, cleanliness, safety, and professionalism. Coordinate deliveries and help ensure materials are received, protected, and available when needed. Verify completion of work before subsequent trades are scheduled whenever possible. Assist with project punch lists and ensure outstanding items are completed in a timely manner. Maintain appropriate site documentation and communicate project progress to the Project Manager. Help identify and resolve field conflicts between trades, plans, selections, and existing conditions. Protect completed work throughout construction and hold trades accountable for damage or improper installation. Maintain positive, professional relationships with homeowners, subcontractors, suppliers, neighbors, and other project contacts. Assist with miscellaneous field-related needs as necessary to keep projects organized and moving forward. Qualifications Previous experience in residential construction, preferably custom or high-end residential construction. Strong working knowledge of residential construction methods, sequencing, materials, and building practices. Ability to read and understand architectural plans, specifications, and construction documents. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to coordinate multiple subcontractors and priorities simultaneously. Comfortable addressing performance, quality, cleanliness, and scheduling concerns directly with trades. Self-motivated and able to manage day-to-day field responsibilities with limited supervision. Professional demeanor and ability to represent DeHaan Homes appropriately with clients and trade partners. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Basic comfort with construction technology, project management software, email, and mobile devices. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is someone who takes ownership of the jobsite and notices the details. You should be comfortable walking a project, recognizing what needs attention, communicating clearly with trades, and working closely with the Project Manager to solve problems before they impact the project. This position is well suited for someone who enjoys being in the field, understands how a residential project should come together, and takes pride in maintaining an organized jobsite and delivering an exceptional finished product. About DeHaan Homes DeHaan Homes is a custom home builder serving West Michigan. We are committed to exceptional craftsmanship, thoughtful design, strong relationships with our clients and trade partners, and a professional construction experience from beginning to end.
