Job Description

Overview Champagne and Marx Excavating is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our growing Saginaw-area operations. We are looking for a motivated individual with experience managing civil construction projects, preferably involving underground utilities, sitework, and earthwork infrastructure projects. The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing projects from award through completion while working closely with field supervision, subcontractors, suppliers, owners, and engineers to keep projects on schedule and within budget. Responsibilities Manage civil construction projects from startup through closeout. Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and cost projections. Review plans, specifications, contracts, and project requirements. Coordinate crews, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and suppliers. Track project costs, quantities, production, and overall financial performance. Prepare and manage change orders, RFIs, submittals, and project documentation. Review subcontractor and supplier proposals and invoices. Work closely with Superintendents and Foremen to plan upcoming work. Attend project meetings and communicate with owners, engineers, inspectors, and other project stakeholders. Identify potential project issues early and develop solutions to keep projects moving. Assist with project billing, quantity tracking, and job cost forecasting. Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contract requirements Skills Proficiency in project scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project; familiarity with Schematics for design coordination. Experience in construction project management, preferably in civil, underground utility, earthwork, site development, or municipal construction. Strong understanding of construction plans and specifications. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Experience with project budgeting, cost tracking, scheduling, and change-order management. Comfortable working with both field personnel and customers. Proficiency with construction software and Microsoft Office. Bid2Win experience is a plus. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required with appropriate construction experience. Compensation & Opportunity Starting salary of $90,000+ per year , with compensation based on experience and qualifications. This position offers an opportunity to join an established civil contractor with a growing presence in the Mid-Michigan market. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take ownership of projects and play an important role in the continued growth of our Saginaw-area operations.
