Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a Certified OSHA 10 Construction Safety Instructor for students of Southeast Michigan Construction Academy. Duties Deliver OSHA 10-Hour Construction training to SEMCA students in accordance with current OSHA Outreach Training Program requirements and Construction Industry procedures. Provide engaging, practical instruction focused on construction workplace safety, hazard recognition, avoidance, prevention, and safe work practices. Cover all OSHA-required mandatory and elective topics within the required instructional time. Connect OSHA safety concepts to real-world construction jobsites and situations relevant to students entering the skilled trades. Maintain accurate attendance, training, and student completion records. Complete and submit required OSHA Outreach Training Program documentation following each training. Request and facilitate distribution of OSHA course completion cards for students who successfully complete the program. Coordinate with SEMCA administrative staff regarding class schedules, student rosters, attendance, and completion status. Maintain a professional, respectful, and engaging learning environment for adult students with varying levels of construction experience. Remain current with OSHA Outreach Training Program requirements and maintain active trainer authorization. Requirements Current OSHA Authorized Construction Trainer status with an unexpired trainer card. Demonstrated knowledge of construction safety, OSHA standards, and common construction workplace hazards. Ability to effectively present safety information to adult learners in a classroom setting. Strong communication, organization, and classroom-management skills. Ability to maintain accurate attendance and training documentation. Reliable availability for scheduled evening training sessions at various SEMCA campus locations, primarily Sterling Heights and Westland. Preferred Professional construction safety and/or field construction experience. Previous experience delivering OSHA 10 Construction training. Experience training apprentices, skilled-trades workers, or adult learners. Experience working with electrical, HVACR, carpentry, welding, or other construction trades. This is a part-time, as-needed instructional role conducted during evening hours. Join us in shaping the future of workplace safety! Pay:
$75.00 - $100.00 per hour Expected hours: 6.0 per week
