Job Description

Project Manager - Mechanical ConstructionPosition Overview We are seeking an experienced Project Manager - Mechanical Construction to lead and deliver commercial and industrial mechanical projects. The role is responsible for planning, coordinating and managing mechanical construction activities including HVAC, piping and plumbing systems from pre-construction through commissioning. The successful candidate will ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality, safety and client requirements.

Key ResponsibilitiesLead project planning and execution for mechanical construction projects (HVAC, piping, plumbing), including scope definition, schedule development and budget management.

Coordinate and oversee design review, constructability input and integration with architectural, structural and MEP teams.

Manage subcontractors, vendors and on-site crews; negotiate contracts, monitor performance and enforce quality standards.

Develop, maintain and report project schedules using MS Project/Primavera and ensure critical path milestones are met.

Prepare and control project budgets, track costs, approve invoices and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality.

Administer change orders, document scope changes, and communicate impacts to schedule and budget to stakeholders.

Ensure compliance with building codes, mechanical standards, safety regulations and client specifications; lead safety briefings and enforce site safety programs (OSHA standards).Conduct site inspections, quality assurance/quality control checks and resolve field technical issues promptly.

Lead commissioning, start-up and turnover activities for mechanical systems; ensure proper documentation, testing and client training.

Communicate regularly with clients, design teams and internal stakeholders; provide status updates, progress reports and risk assessments.

Mitigate project risks by identifying issues early, developing recovery plans and escalating when necessary.

Maintain comprehensive project documentation including RFIs, submittals, as-built records and close-out packages.

QualificationsBachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or related field preferred; equivalent technical trade experience with progressive project leadership will be considered.

Minimum 5+ years experience managing mechanical construction projects (commercial/industrial) with proven success delivering HVAC, piping and plumbing systems.

Strong knowledge of mechanical design, installation practices, materials, codes and standards relevant to HVAC, piping and plumbing.

Proven experience with project planning tools (MS Project, Primavera), estimating and contract administration.

Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, schedules and subcontractor performance on multiple concurrent projects.

Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills; able to lead cross-functional teams and maintain client relationships.

Safety-focused with working knowledge of OSHA regulations and site safety management; certifications preferred.

Professional certifications such as PMP, CCM or Mechanical-related licenses are a plus.

Proficient with construction documentation practices, submittals, RFIs, change orders and commissioning procedures.

Ability to travel to project sites regularly and work flexible hours as project demands require; valid drivers license.
