Position Description:
The School Age Care (SAC) program is committed to providing students, ages Kindergarten through Grade 5, a high-quality child care program. High-quality programming means plenty of engaging activities suited to the interests of the children enrolled in the program. Owatonna Public Schools are looking for employees who are passionate about positive youth development and dedicated to providing youth with opportunities to grow every day. Site Supervisors lead a fun, fast-paced environment. They initiate planning, preparation, and delivery of fun and engaging activities for children. Each site has Program Assistants to share responsibility for the safety and well-being of the children and support preparation of activities. This position does include working on non-school days. This position includes interacting professionally with site teammates and building staff. Site Supervisors act within the perimeter of the SAC Program Handbook, working collaboratively with Program Assistants and the SAC Program Coordinator to meet program and district expectations. Up to 2 full-time-equivalent positions and 2 Morning-Only positions are available based on current enrollment.
Position Requirements:
A passion for working with children in a fast-paced and enriching environment. Exhibit flexibility as a team player with the ability to problem-solve and handle multiple tasks at a time. Maintain a customer focus, with an understanding of parent-child interactions. Must be 16 years of age or older. A High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred. Training beyond high school/GED is appreciated and preferred, as is evidence of previous, successful experience working with school-age children in a large-group care/education environment. This position requires the ability to contribute to cooperative staff partnerships with communication skills to understand and be understood. Consistent and timely attendance is a must.
Schedule:
The successful candidate for this position must commit to work days scheduled within a school year calendar. All SAC Sites are open Monday through Friday during school attendance days. On non-school days, all Site Supervisors need to be available to help staff the centralized, single-site Fun Day program. Not all Supervisors will be needed for every non-school day; however, a successful candidate must be available to fill a rotating schedule of assignments for these days. The daily work schedule may be adjusted based on daily attendance of participating children. School year staff have first consideration for continued summer employment. Work schedules vary by site.
Available assignments include:
Monday through Friday.
Mornings:
6:20-8:20 am
After School:
1:30-5:30, plus 8:30-10:00 for weekly Site Supervisor Team Meetings. Preferences/accommodations to stated schedules will be discussed during interviews. •All positions will have orientation and training hours during District Workshop Week, August 24-26, 2026. Total Assignments can range from 11.5 - 31.5 hours per week. A SAC position is often a perfect job pairing for culinary or educational assistant positions throughout the district.
