Job Description Rachel Contracting is seeking a Superintendent to lead field operations on heavy civil and specialty construction projects across the Midwest. You'll manage demolition, earthwork, utilities, and environmental remediation work, directing crews and subcontractors to deliver safe, high-quality projects. Responsibilities include planning work sequences, coordinating equipment and materials, enforcing rigorous safety standards, and ensuring compliance with plans and specifications. You'll collaborate closely with project managers and clients, track production and costs, mentor field staff, and help drive a culture of integrity, accountability, and teamwork. Responsibilities Lead day-to-day field operations on heavy civil and specialty construction projects, including demolition, earthwork, utilities, and remediation Plan work sequences, schedule crews and subcontractors, and coordinate equipment and materials to meet project milestones Enforce company and regulatory safety standards, conduct site safety meetings, and address hazards promptly Interpret plans, specifications, and surveys to ensure work is completed per design, quality standards, and contract requirements Communicate regularly with project managers, owners, inspectors, and trade partners to resolve field issues Track quantities, production, and daily reports; assist with cost control, change management, and documentation Coach and supervise foremen and craft workers, promoting teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement Support startup, phasing, and closeout activities, including punch lists and final inspections Required Skills Construction project management Heavy civil construction Demolition operations Earthwork and grading Underground utilities installation Environmental remediation practices Reading plans and specifications Construction safety compliance (OSHA) Crew and subcontractor supervision Project scheduling and sequencing
