Commercial Construction Position Overview Partners in Construction is seeking an experienced and motivated Commercial Construction Superintendent to oversee day-to-day field operations on commercial construction projects. Most projects are within an hour and a half of Durham. The Superintendent will be responsible for managing subcontractors, maintaining project schedules, enforcing safety standards, coordinating inspections, and ensuring high-quality workmanship from project start through closeout. This position requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple trades and maintain production in a fast-paced construction environment. Responsibilities
  • Oversee all on-site construction activities from mobilization to project completion
  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel
  • Maintain and enforce project schedules and milestone deadlines
  • Conduct daily jobsite inspections for safety, quality, and progress
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and scopes of work
  • Coordinate inspections with local authorities and project stakeholders
  • Manage material deliveries and site logistics
  • Lead weekly subcontractor coordination meetings
  • Track daily reports, manpower, weather delays, and project documentation
  • Work closely with Project Managers, owners, architects, and engineers
  • Identify and resolve field issues proactively to avoid delays
  • Maintain clean and organized job sites
  • Assist with punch list completion and project closeout Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of commercial construction superintendent experience
  • Experience managing retail upfits, ground-up commercial buildings, tenant improvements, and site development projects
  • Strong knowledge of commercial construction sequencing, OSHA safety standards, scheduling, and plan reading
  • Ability to manage multiple subcontractors and maintain project schedules
  • Proficient with smartphones, tablets, email, and construction management software
  • Valid driver's license with reliable transportation
  • Ability to work independently and lead crews effectively Preferred Experience
  • Experience with structural steel, storefront systems, MEP coordination, commercial drywall, acoustical ceilings, and sitework
  • OSHA 30 Certification
  • Procore or similar project management software experience
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus Compensation & Benefits
